Not a big fan, but I do like. Piece of Mind, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and Somewhere in Time are my faves! I kind of like the more "commercial" side of Maiden.

i agree i think now the have become too progressive with most of the songs being around 10 mins in length. i prefer the 80s stuff

I was a metalhead untill ´84...thanx Prince wink

Serious, I still love hardrock and some metal from time 2 time and Maiden are

the biggest from the new wave of BM...and the best!!

Especially love the classic albums from the early years, Number of the beast and Piece of mind...

Piece of mind has some of my fav songs!! (when me and my friends heard the "new" drummer Nico we were very impressed)

I bought the Somewhere in time compilation and I guess those were the best years for Maiden. But..this compilation isn´t enough off course and GREAT tracks like Where eagles dare, Flight of Icarus...are missing!!! rolleyes

Anyway, a lot of great albums; my fav is Piece of mind.

Number..., Powerslave are second imo.

Love Maiden, although since they've reformed with Bruce they seem a little bloated musically, nothing will touch their 82 - 88 material really. Seventh Son is my favourite although most of the 80's stuff is great. Seen them loads over the last 20 years and as long as i have the money will always see them.

Pretty much their whole eighties run is great but there is an energy that the first two albums have that I love.

I actually just got into their music. I have listened to a few albums. The Number of The Beast, Powerslave, & Seventh of a Seventh Son.

I think I'm going to listen to other ones soon, I really liked what I heard so far.

I'm a big fan of their music but not a fan of the band. It sounds silly, I know, but I mean that I absolutely love many of their songs but I only care for three albums

1.Piece of Mind

2.Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

3.Killers

and the DVD of the 1985 tour

then I love some songs off the debut, Number of the Beast (which is NOT their best album), Powerslave, Somewhere in Time (Alexander the Great, what a song!), No Prayer for the Dying, Fear of the Dark, etc

I despise the entire Blaze Bailey 90s era (Sign of the Cross is a great song though) and the Bruce Dickinson/Adrian Smith return in 2000...nah, I remember being quite excited with Brave New World but overall their 00s album are decent, but not much more. The same goes with Prince. Musicology, 3121, Lotus etc. are good albums but for fans only...

on the other hand, Bruce Dickinson's solo albums are better than anything Maiden released after 1988 nod

If I had to choose one, it would definately be....

PIECE OF MIND

English Heavy Metal brilliance from beginning to end.... LOVE this album!!! One of my favorites of any band... EVER!!

Number of The Beast and Powerslave are high up there too. I'm not that big of a Paul D'ianno fan, but Killers is one of my favs too. When I'm in a certain mood, I really enjoy Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son.

Fast forward to Adrian and Bruce returning to the band--- loved Brave New World and also enjoy the latest one quite a bit, Final Frontier. I saw them for the first time last year on the first leg of the Final Frontier tour.

That Live After Death album/dvd is awesome, the band were on top at that point. Agree with the solo albums aswell, Accident Of Birth, Skunworks and Chemical Wedding are better than anything the band have done in the last 20 years.

The first album i bought was powerslave, so that has a special place in my heart, although its not my fav. I actually had the melody for "no prayer for the dying" in my head for fucking weeks id be whistling it. It is such a stunning melody i think.

I'd agree that Piece of Mind is brilliant from start to finish. The guitar sound is among my favorites ever, it's just so crunchy and sweet. And I usually can't listen to 'Where Eagles Dare' only once, it has to be 2 or 3 times in a row. What an epic jam.

Live After Death holds a special place in my heart too, it reminds me of Jr High and really great times with friends. "Long Beach Arena - SCREAM FOR ME!!"

Agree!!! But is there someone who can explain why there´s only 1 (one) song included on

the Somewhere back in time compilation from this great album??

And why Flight of Icarus is always forgotten on live albums or compilations???

Any serious Maiden compilation should feature at least 4 discs. Word. Too many good songs. And FLight of Icarus was a highlight of the 84-85 tour cool

Huge fan here!!

I'd say Seventh Son & Number of the Beast are my favorites overall. I have all of their albums and like them all to varying degrees, but their 80s stuff is definitely the best.
