Jackie Wilson Can I just say I'm hopelessly in love with his voice?? Here's a cool story that happend 2 me 5 minutes ago. My computer is placed beside the window and in front of my window thats where my old homegirl lives(Ms Regie Brown-a 65 years old lady) and boy,,I only open my window just 2 hear what doea that ol' cow play even if its cold like a mofo. I would shout 2 her and ask her about any in4mation about them Doo Woops and Motown artists, she would give me all the inf4mation that I want and play me some, lol kinda like the real life version of Mr.Maxxx and Brother915 :p.
Anyway,,as I was searching through the net 4 some sites, Miss Brown played a song I haven't heard in a looong time. Its "Lonely Teardrops" by Jackie Wislon,,I stopped typing 4 a minute 2 listen 2 the song and lol she was sitting beside the window looking at me like she's waiting 4 me to speak-up becoz I'm the only one who talks to her about these stuff. Besides,,she always laugh when she see my reaction and my face expressions. When I heard the part where he sings "Just say you will, say yoOoOoOoOoo wiiill" my shoulders were shaking from these cold chills that I had. Man, Its so nice when someone(who lives right beside you) play somthing worth the listen when you got everybody on the hood bumbing rap songs and rising the volume sound like crazy. I'm thankful 4 Miss Regie Brown.

thank you for Showing the Love.Props to Miss Brown I had a Miss Brown on My Block back in the day that Schooled me on Music&Life as well.Jackie Wilson: WOW what can I say about Him? He was the Michael Jackson of His time but never got to the High Point of it due to Industry Politics,Mafia,Connection on His Label Brunswick&His Own Demons that did Him in.but Oh as a Artist He had it all.He was as Cool as Elvis&could Hang with James Brown.but so many things cut His Life short.thanks to MJ I went back&got His Music.also My Mom&Grandmother spoke quite Highly of Him.but again Michael Jackson back at the Grammys in 1984 when He won all the Trophys Acknowledged Jackie Wilson's Music on Him&that truly made me want to hear for myself. He was Sharp&was One of those Cats that as Tiger Woods Said you better Bring your A game or He would Mop You Up.I just got a Live CD of His&It's cool.I got a Couple Books on Him&also talked with a Writer who did a Book on Him.Thank You as always for Bringing the Soul with You.Toast to You&Miss Brown.Anyway,,as I was searching through the net 4 some sites, Miss Brown played a song I haven't heard in a looong time. I only have 2 of his hits compilations but I'm madly in love with Jackie. 'I Get The Sweetest Feeling' moves me to tears of joy every time. All cover versions have failed to do so.

"lonely teardrops".my pillow´s never dry! it was co:written by Berry Gordy, the leader of Motown. 1 of my favourite´s though is "To be loved" It make me think about the movie "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy when he´s in love & sing this song out loud so he wakes up his neighbours.U seen that? There is a book I´ve been wanting 2 lay my hands on. I saw it in a bookstore & I think it´s called "Lonely teardrops". By the way, that´s the song he was singing on stage in 1975 when he fell down in a heartattack. oh,& check out the song "A woman,a lover,a friend" /peace Manki

Prince was Influenced by Him as well same with Terrence Trent D'abry who played Him on a CBS Mini Series Movie about the Early Days of Rock&Roll.Jackie was a Clean Dapper&Damn Great On Stage Entertainer. He was Bad.My Mother had a Old Boyfriend who took His Son to See Jackie in Concert&He said that Jackie would Sweat alot but the Cat still Had His Perfume Smelling Good on the Hankey He gave the Kid.dug His Spins&Leg Splits very tight.Smokey RObinson early on his Career was Patterned after Jackie.mistermaxxx

Harle, you've been on roll this weekend with your threads boo. Hey Jackie WAS THE MAN. My father have a lot of his records. He's an obvious influence on The Gloved Wonder. I ran a thread on Jackie last year. He had it all, the moves, the voice, the style, the charm etc. He would drive women in a frenzy. Elvis took some cues and steps from Jackie too. Get his anthology The Jackie Wilson Story if it is still in print for an awesome documentation of his career.
The only problem with Jackie was that out of the phrase SHOW BUSINESS{the word businesss is longer than the word SHOW}and Jackie wasn't up on the business end of music as someone like a Sam Cooke was. Additionally, Jackie didn't always get the material worthy of his vocal prowness. Even so he would be singing his butt off on some medicore material. He was a master showmen. And it truly worthy of some props and recognition. There are some sweet sounds coming down off the nightshift...HAVE MERCY!!! P.S. Appreciate the Harle. It's refreshing to see young folks such as yourself being so aware of the great musical artists... past and present.

I sat on his lap during his show when I was a baby. (Jackie Wilson was in town and I guess my mom couldn't find a baby sitter.)
That voice, those moves, those lips... Ladies loved Jackie! You KNOW Elvis must've studied him back in the day, too!

Of course "Elvis" borrowed Jackie's best moves. Nobody that ever did the Apollo want to go on after him. Micheal J. would just go wow. How did he get back up like that?
I won't tell too much of Barry Gordy's dirt. But he also owned a record store before starting Motown. It went out of business. Just imagine Mr.Gordy would still be selling records instead of deciding to make them himself had he not gone under.(smile) So when you lose you really win. Jackie Wilson was the performers performer. What everyone else aspired to be. sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.
