Today just got so much better -- new soul queen Adele, rap royalty Lil Wayne and R&B singer Chris Brown have all confirmed performances at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awardson Sunday, Aug. 28!
Adele, whose sophomore album 21 has sold nearly 3 million copies and was the first to go platinum this year, will be celebrating her seven VMA nominations for lead single "Rolling in the Deep," including Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video. The singer, who'll be making her VMA debut, wasn't coy about her excitement, sharing on her blog that she's "flabbergasted about the VMA nominations! Thank you, thank you MTV! I'm thinking about releasing a range of chairs to celebrate!"
Joining 2011's biggest breakout star will be Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, each receiving multiple nominations. Brown's "Look At Me Now," featuring Wayne and Busta Rhymes, earned the singer a Best Hip Hop Video and Best Collaboration nomination, while his appearance on Big Sean's "My Last" helped earn Sean a Best New Artist nod. Wayne, whose heavily anticipated Tha Carter IV will be available immediately after the VMAs, grabbed a Best Hip Hop Video nomination with the Cory Gunz-assisted "6 Foot 7 Foot" in addition to "Look At Me Now."
