Deep Purple I don't think i ever see much live given to these guy's on the org, these guys are one hell of a great bluesy rock band.... and one of the innovaters of heavy metal and prog rock.
While we are at it how about some rainbow & early whitensake to complete the Ritchie & David circle? lol
Whitesnake

Big fan of Coverdale/Hugues Deep Purple (very funky era) and Whitesnake here
I respect the Ian Gillian era, but many of the tracks bore the hell out of me, Machine Head is NOT as good/strong/relevant as IV or Paranoid...
in fact, for me John Lord is the key of the old Purple, his skills with the keys basically changed hard-rock forever, with synth/keys-driven bands like Bon Jovi or even the E Street Band...

Glenn Hughes is one of my favorite rock singers on the planet.
"Stormbringer" is a very funky record. Glenn and Coverdale harmonized very well together on that joint. They did it so well that Blackmore put Rainbow together because he didn't want to do anymore "shoeshine" music (quoted by Jon Lord).
"Machine Head", "Made In Japan" and "Burn" are must haves.

Although they only did one album with Tommy Bolin as guitarist, it surely did rock!
And they made a movie about that time, too. I'm going to go get it immediately. I saw Deep Purple live only once, but it was when Bolin was in the band. Good gosh, did they rock.

Not really a fan myself, but I know a devoted one!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitry_Medvedev Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev (Russian: Дми́трий Анато́льевич Медве́дев, tr. Dmitriy Anatolyevich Medvedev, IPA: [ˈdmʲitrʲɪj ɐnɐˈtolʲjɪvʲɪtɕ mʲɪˈdvʲedʲɪf] ( listen); born 14 September 1965) is the third and current President of the Russian Federation.
Medvedev is a devoted fan of British hard rock, listing Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and Deep Purple as his favorite bands. He is a collectorof their original vinyl records and has previously said that he has collected all of the recordings of Deep Purple.[117][118] As a youth, he was making copies of their records, although these bands were then on the official state-issued blacklist.[119] In February 2008, Medvedev and Sergei Ivanov attended a Deep Purple concert in Moscow together.[120]
Maybe we should invite him to comment here:)..

Big fan of Bolin. I love "Teaser". You actually saw him?? Cool!! He's an underrated great.
I'm gonna pick up "Pheonix Rising" this weekend. That DVD looks like it's going to be good.

I'm not too sure on Deep Purple, they had some great singles, i love the mark 3 line up, Coverdale/Hughes, Burn, Stormbringer and Come Taste The Band are all great albums, but that'll be due to my love for Coverdale's voice, who's is my favourite in the rock world. I saw them live in 2004 and was a bit bored and actually left early to beat the traffic, support came from Peter Frampton who was ruddy marvelous and blew Purple off the stage, 2 weeks later i saw Whitesnake and they were fantastic.
