What does the org think about Donell Jones?

[img:$uid]http://img20.im.../img:$uid]

I love him lol I think his a good singer, songwriter and makes pretty good music. Very underrated. His a 90's act that had big commercial success in the 90's with his hit Where I Wanna Be and wrote for notable artists in the music industry. I wish he come back. He was supposedly working on some new material recently.

I like his voice. It's very nice. I've also liked what I've heard from him. Unfortunately I don't believe he'll ever be able to separate himself from the pack (Trey Songz, Bobby V, Ginuwine, Tyrese etc). In my mind there's RKelly and then the pack. The pack are all interchangeable. Nothing distinguishes them from one another. With all of the problems R has had he's still the man when it comes to grown and sexy R&B music from a male. Excluding the older generation males like Ron Isley of course.

He's cool but he totally missed his spot. I was listening to "Where I Wanna Be" not too long ago. Still has a punch to it. Classic shit.

I love Donell Jones, but unfortunately his music falls into the "same ole same ole" as of late. His last album released last year wasn't that great though I did love "Love Like This". It's just like with Avant, great voice, but the same material over and over again.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He's fallen under the same pseudo hip-hop type of crap that has been invading many R&B artists from the '90s lol

Yeah and I don't understand that why as artists they don't see what's going on with their music and they keep recycling their own shit. I know a few years back Avant released an album of new material where one song was about a french pedicure being up in the air. I was like eek And you really actually put your voice to a song like this??? disbelief

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yeah it's like "are these cats even MOTIVATED?!" It's like the artists from other generations at least still had fresh ideas on how to present themselves but most of the '90s acts are lost on how to react especially since they grew up in the first wave of hip-hop that they feel they have to compete with the second and third waves of it to stay "relevant". lol Especially JOE! disbelief

Lawd have mercy, let's not even talk about Joe. Now you talking about a cat who can really sing, but he's right in the same category as Avant and Donell...same shit, similar sound. Like take a risk or something. Or maybe they feel that the only way to do that is to go independent. Well naw, cuz Donell is on an independent label now I believe, and he's still putting out that same recycled sound. So I really don't know or understand it. Raheem DeVaughn is about to fall into the same pattern too. But he has time NOW to turn his music around and be true to his sound before people are like how we are on this thread "wonder what happened to Raheem DeVaughn"? Sad but true, just sayin'.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

True. lol And the thing is Donell ain't no different from them so technically it's still very much in the topic but overall I think with Donell there's a lot of missed potential.

Why don't you just say it: "it's the lesser of two evils". I guess if your voice is as tight as cereal and milk, then the music behind it is okay. lol Nah, I don't buy that because two recent songs from good singers sucked ass (Syleena Johnson's "Boss" and Lalah's latest). lol
