Ask TonyVanDam anything (concerning music)! First of all, a quick shout-out to Lilgish and/or VoicesCarry, whereever they are. One of them had a thread like this years ago, but I don't remember exactly which one of them did it first.
Second of all, I'm inviting all orgers to ask me serious questions about music, recording artists, videos, etc. I will do my best to answer as many questions as possible. Keep in mind that I will definitely answer serious questions only. So please, no stupid questions OR immature flamebaiting.
I give all of you within the first 24-36 hours to post your questions. Make this an excellent thread!
EDIT: It will help plenty if you can ask me for my dead honest opinions about musical genres & recording artists. [Edited 9/1/11 1:29am]

Who are The Liverpools? What kind of music is Pee Wee King known for? What band did Stuart Sutcliffe play bass for and why did he leave? What is the original name of the Jackson 5? Who is Moondog? What label did Moss Tolbert record for? Who recorded a song called Blackeyed Rattlesnake? Who was the 1st African American to make a record? Who are the members of Old Dogs? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Ok i'll take a stab at this more as a "quiz" on some things we might have spoke on in the past
Elton John owns a "chart record" that will most likely never be broken what is it? Bon Jovi's first grammy win came for what song? a-ha owns 2 guiness book of world records, what are they?
back in 1991 while recording at Paisley Park the band a-ha looked around, one member (MAGS) used the bathroom, what did he write in small print on the wall about 4 feet off the ground?
The Cover Girls debut record was the first INDIE album to do what?
Bon Jovi's "Slippery When Wet" got its title from?

But TonyVanDam doesn't seem to know anything concerning music or much else, so why would we waste our time?

From a production (and arranging) standpoint Juxtapose the subtle difference between Glyn Johns and his son Ethan. You could use albums to aid you.

Name some acts that have been popular for a long period of time with one or no radio hits (ie. Grateful Dead). In your case, it's really your fault & your lost because you have NOT seen most of the threads that I've posted in within my 8+ years of prince.org membership where I have been part of the discussions about music (including Prince's).

On point with your answers, the Elton John thing is a record but not the one i was thinking of as never being broken.
Elton is the only artist to have at least ONE song in the Top 40 30 years in a row (1970-1999) to me that will never be matched NO WAY.
Perfect on the Jovi questions, on point with the Cover Girls, ironically Jovi's grammy was awarded in the "Country" category.
As for the a-ha questions, the Guiness Records are Biggest paying audience for a music concert for one artist (festivals excluded) a-ha play the Marcana in Rio in 1991 and sold 197,000 tickets. And the second Record is Longest note on a studio released single for "Summer Moved On" lead singer morten harket holds the note for 22 seconds on the studio version which was released in 2000.
and the other a-ha question about paisley park the answer is, When going to use the urinal in one of the bathroom MAGNE FURUHOLMEN took a sharpie out and in small print wrote next to one of the urinals that was "lowest" from the floor "Prince Was Here" (a short joke) the next day the words were gone from the wall. I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, but Amel Larrieux has not been on my music radar as much as she should have. I've always know that she could sing as one-half of the duo Groove Theory. I believe Amel Larrieux is a lot like Kim Hill as one of those talents with a solid cult following and they're better off without mainstream success.

1. One of the original members might be my second cousin on my mother's side of the family!
2. Chocolate Milk should have been more successful than they were in the 1970's. And BTW, Allen Toussaint should have been kicked in the nuts for the way he screwed The Meters & Chocolate Milk out of their royalities, but that's another thread for another day.
3. Action Speaks Louder Than Words is still a funk classic!

Ironically i started to ask you about Allen Toussaint. I know he worked with them early on in their career before the guys moved on to Allen Jones around 1981. The band has some funky Barkays like songs under Jones direction. The Meters were tight too.
Don't laugh at my funk
