Upcoming Madonna album offers plenty of surprises

Chicago reps for Universal Music Group claim Madonna is set to release her new album next spring. There is no album title yet, but one of the album’s strongest tracks is said to be a song called “Trust,” which was either co-written or co-produced with Sia. It is said to be like “Live to Tell,” but ten times better.

Jim Steinman, one of the producers originally set for the album, is no longer on board. Instead, William Orbit and Jean Baptiste Kouame are producing a lion’s share of the album. Madonna is also very involved and is writing and producing some tracks all by herself. Industry insiders see this album as a milestone for Madonna in the same degree “Like a Prayer” and “Ray of Light” were.

Madonna’s 2012 tour is being planned as we speak and it will be different from previous tours. Jamie King, Madonna’s long-time tour collaborator, will no longer be involved. Stay tuned for more information.

LiveNation has partnered with Universal Music Group, just in time for the launch of Madonna's new album lol

UMG, LIVE NATION JOIN FORCES

Joint Venture Will Focus on Expanding Artist Services and Developing Direct-to-Consumer Offerings

September 19, 2011

Live Nation Entertainment and Universal Music Group are now bedfellows.
The two companies announced the formation of a broad-based strategic partnership. And no, that doesn't mean Lucian Grainge now joins Irving Azoff's fantasy Wall Street league. The two will roll together a 50/50 joint venture involving UMG's wholly owned management companies as well as a worldwide bundling initiative involving Ticketmaster.

Live Nation Entertainment’s Front Line Management Group division and UMG will look to manage and strengthen artists and their brands through a variety of worldwide sponsorships, strategic marketing campaigns and brand extension opportunities. The partnership will be managed by Front Line and will focus on developing direct-to-consumer bundling initiatives for select UMG artists in key markets around the world that bring together concert tickets and a variety of music products with artist websites. The ticketing and bundling products will be handled by Ticketmaster.

Commented Live Nation Executive Chairman and Front Line Chairman/CEO Azoff: “This is an unprecedented partnership that unites the world’s top music artists with the world’s leading artist management, live entertainment, event ticketing and sponsorship resources to drive innovation across our industry. We see tremendous opportunities to work together to create a broad range of products built on the power of music and the direct connection between artists and fans. We look forward to working closely with Lucian Grainge and the talented UMG team in this new and exciting chapter of the music industry. Hopefully, it won't hurt my golf game.”

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to partner with Universal Music Group’s incredible roster of global superstars and emerging artists,” said Live Nation President/CEO Michael Rapino. “Ticketmaster’s digital distribution platforms will further support artist development by reaching millions of fans worldwide. And no, I can't get you a pair for Radiohead at Roseland.”

Added UMG Chairman/CEO Grainge: “Together with Irving and Michael, we are creating a series of new platforms and global direct-to-consumer initiatives that will further expand the presence of our artists in this evolving marketplace while providing music fans with even more flexibility in how they consume music. Our artists and their music are at the heart of everything that we do, and by leveraging our combined skills, strengths and global reach with that of Live Nation Entertainment, our management companies, artists and their fans will benefit immeasurably. At least that's what Irving tells me.”

UMG’s artist management companies include Trinifold, Twenty First Artists (TFA), 5B and Sanctuary. While each of UMG’s divisions will remain independently run under their current management, which includes prominent managers Carl Stubner (Sanctuary), Bill Curbishley and Robert Rosenberg (Trinifold), Cory Brennan and Bob Johnsen (5B) and Colin Lester (Twenty First Artists), they will work closely with Front Line to expand their respective rosters of artists and managers.

"We look forward to working closely with Lucian Grainge and the talented UMG team in this new and exciting chapter of the music industry."

Madonna working with the Nervo twins :

Nervo: I actually have some enormous news for you. We’ve just started telling people. Madonna has expressed a great interest in recording one of our songs and William Orbit wants to produce it.That’s like wow, we honestly are so lucky. We couldn’t be more excited.

Jon: Wow is correct, that is seriously amazing.

Nervo: I know!

Jon: I’m thrilled, I can’t even imagine how you guys feel.

Nervo: I know! Its funny, we speak to our parents quite a bit. We always tell them what we’re doing and who we’re working with and they don’t really know of them. I told them Madonna and they jumped for joy so we’re so excited. It’s not 100% confirmed but she has expressed an interest.

Jon: That alone is just amazing. I really hope it goes well.

Nervo: Yeah. Us too, us to

Hopefully it's better than "Hard Candy." That album sucked! I'm sorry for all u hardcore Madge fans but I hated that album. Sadly she's been replaced, sorry M.

Most hardcore Madonna fans agree with you about Hard Candy! It definitely was not a loved album by most of her fans. But we're not going to replace her because of one bad album.

I'm surprised someone said Kelis' album Fleshtones was terrible. I thought it was good and it got generally favorable reviews.

I never heard that Kelis album.I like the fact that Madonna is listening to alot of different demos by different people. This may turn out to be a very diverse,well-rounded collection of songs.

Have you heard that song Miles Away? Thats the best song she's made in the last 10 years. I tried listening to American Life but it was kind of weak. I might have to give it another listen

Something that excites me....this is her first album post Ritchie divorce.

And her last post divorce album (Penn) was.....LIKE A PRAYER!!

I did enjoy Hard Candy, but it seemed a bit phoned it, like she said "What producers / writers are selling loads and filling up the charts at the mo? Timbaland? Timberlake? Great, just get me them". Confessions IMHO was her best album since Ray of Light and maybe even better than that, so was a tough act to follow. It set a standard and its sound wasnt copied from anyone (no one hugely established at least). But Hard Candy seemed to be Madonna chasing the current pop music frontrunners rather than leading the way....she needs to try and lead the way again with something new.

I sometimes think Warners and her management convinced M that working with Timbaland and Pharrel was a good idea. From what I hear, she wanted to work with Pet Shop Boys and continue the House/Disco sound of 'Confessions'.

HC is a blip on her record imo.

Apart from"Miles Away" I'd have taken Confessions Part II over Hard Candy...even though the album grew on me (largely due to the tour) it was still a bit of a let down...
