Press release:

Beyonce will take the stage at New York's famed Roseland Ballroom for four nights of special performances this month. The set on each night will be the entire collection of her critically acclaimed album, 4. For four special nights, August 14, 16, 18 and 19, the world-class entertainer will perform her new songs to a standing room only audience.

Described by music critics as her most accomplished work yet, genre busting, bold and vibrant, 4 is a platform for the star to stretch her musical tastes and showcase her pitch-perfect voice. "What matters to Beyonce is actually the music," states NPR. And The New York Times calls her "relentlessly perfect."

General ticket sales begin at 1:00 PM EDT on Wednesday, August 10 at Ticketmaster. The first date, August 14, will be available at 1:00 PM. Tickets for August 16 will be available for purchase starting at 2:00 PM EDT;August 18 tickets will be available at 3:00 PM EDT.

Tickets for the final concert on August 19 will be available at 4:00 PM EDT.

I saw her at MSG. I didn't have the best seats and almost got a contact high from all the weed being smoked (yes, at a Beyonce concert full of kids!!) but was able to enjoy myself anyway. I might check one of these shows out...

She has to start making money as the sales from this album isn't going to offset promotional costs. I expect her to soon announce a bigger tour

Not a big fan of Beyonce, but I actually love her album "4". It's her best album to date. I also liked "B'Day".

Also, she's a kick ass performer! I wouldn't mind seeing her live.

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

She and her camp are trying to jumpstart the promotion of this album, since it has failed to generate a hit single. They don't want the album to fade away quickly, which it probably will anyway.

You have a valid point. Unfortunately for her, sales have continued to decline. I think she is suffering from over exposure and some folks have moved on to Rihanna, Gaga, Adele etc or just chose to sit this album out especially after hearing the awful 'ruth the world (girls)' song.

Party or countdown could do something on urban radio but i don't see much crossover sucess for that on pop. It doesn't help that she's saturating the market again with her with so much promo to diminishing returns. Yes, she is a good performer.

The cynics strike again; trying to play Rolling Stone critic and sales analyst. Unless you work at Sony Music, you have no idea how much revenue 4 is (or isn't) generating.

I have no idea how the album is doing, but if she isn't pulling the numbers she used to it's probably because of overexposure like others here have mentioned. I think if she took a longer break then came back, everything would be fine again. She just has to give people a chance to miss her first.

it doesn't take someone working for Sony to make a statement that the cd '4' probably is in the 'red' for the label. It only takes common sense and a fundamental knowledge of math and basic accounting.

She's done tons of promo both here and abroad, has a huge travel cost with a large entourage, an expensive first video, and a tv special that an artist has to pay for. To date the cd has sold about 1mil copies worldwide. Add in prodution cost, weave cost and the like and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that at this point, the cd hasn't made money for the label.

That could change at a later date but at this point no, plus she's supposdely filming a video anthology. I bectch she's fronting the cost personally for those videos as no sane label will fund the cost of 4-5 additional videos based on '4's sales to date.

just to let everyone know, CDS by in large dont make money for the most part, the bigger the artist and promo the less the profit if any in fact most cds are in the "red". Touring is really the only chance to make $$ but even that, depending on where you go and how BIG the show is can also put you in the red. But i have to say that people are talking LIKE she has no power at that label, she pretty much can write her own ticket folks, plus she has alot of BANK herself, she isnt going to hurt from being in the "red", its kind of like how Mel Gibson doesnt hurt being an asshole, though no one wants to cast him, he has so much money he puts himself in his own productions.

This is mostly true but differentiate personal wealth from label budget. Not talking about her personal wealth and i'm almost positive that she is personally funding her video anthology if she puts one out.

I don't care how much power an artist has, a label head has to answer to their shareholders and at the end of the day, Sony isn't going to go into a big hole for her or anyone else. Gone are those days.

A lable can still make money of a gold/platinum cd if expenses are kept low and yes, absolutely for most artist their income has to come from touring and endorsements.

I agree.People are tired of Beyonce, mainly because she does the same thing over and over.

Because she TOURS with every release... and needs to go away go like 10 years. No commericals no apperances no movies (she needs to stop acting period) let her natural color hair come back

She has sold 592,700 copies to date. The CD so far has not been a runaway smash hit in spite of heavy promotion and overhyping.

This is 100% true. She's doing these mini dates in NYC for hype to get more promo hype i.e attention in the media to push sales for the next 2 wks after the dates as surely the cd would continue to stall and decline in sales.

It's really sad isn't it. It's also even sadder how threatened some of these people are that Beyonce is overtaking their favorite artist in terms of popularity, media attention, etc. Why can't their be room for EVERYONE? It is so immature to wish failure on anyone who works as hard as Beyonce, is as talented as she is and who never seems to wish harm or say bad words about anyone else. I wish her nothing but continued success in everything that she does. I do wish that she would take more time for herself and fulfill that wish to be a mother. I think that she would be an excellent mother and could STILL kick ass in concerts and other live appearances. She truly is the hardest working entertainer out there today. She never does anything half-assed. She always give 200% EVERYTIME she hits the stage.

Are you foreal with this?

It seems like everytime someone is NOT worshiping this woman they are hater or they want her to fail give me a fuckin a break neutral

I didnt hear ANY bad comments on Beyonce in this thread. All I heard was she is a good performer but she is overexposed which IS true like it or not and it has backfired greatly for her. Damn no one is trying to wish bad on the girl but damn no one is not going to sit here and act like she is authentic, not overexpose and overrated either... come on now... confused Everyone is not a fan of Beyonce contrary to popular opinion that is not wishing bad on anybody but the chile seriously needs to take a break.... Performing and MAKING MUSIC is two different things always remember that.

While Beyonce puts on some good shows sometimes I have never been BLOWNNN away by her performances... I dunno the constant throwing your hair around like a horse, simple boring choregraphy and over singing never drew or entertained me but if other people like it thats their opinion I guess lol

Also, sooooooo tired of people feeding into her good girl image.. its bullshit and she has revealed her TRUE nature countless of times in interviews.. She is not articulate and very much full of herself.. Also like she is the greatest thing ever when their are singers and performers like Janalle Monae who are better and make MUCH better music .. seriously stop feeding into the hype
