This box set is the defiitive document of Electric Light Orchestra's classic recordings
Original Price: $99.98 USD England's Electric Light Orchestra, better known to its fans as ELO, went from cult status to arena-level superstardom in the 1970s, evolving from eclectic classically-influenced prog-rockers to state-of-the-art hitmakers. At the peak of their popularity, they were one of the world's biggest-selling recording acts, and also one of the most unusual. first the EWF set, now ELO? childhood memories...
Secret Messages was the last ELO album I bought, never heard Balance Of Power (1986), how ist it? and the box is missing the 12th album Zoom whcih I also haven't heard
I have most of this on vinyl anyway and some Best of CD, so I'll most likely pass on this set, unless I can find it for a really good price
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I never heard Balance Of Power either.Or the other album you mentioned,Zoom.I stopped collecting their albums after Discovery (which I love) but 'm curious about Time.Every album they released in the 70s is superb, especially their masterpiece Out Of The Blue.
Not sure if I really need this set but if I can find it for a cheap price,I may reconsider

I loved "Time" back in the days, but never got into "Seret Messages", hence I stopped buying further releases. haven't listened to both albums in ages though.
my Top 3 would be Discovery, Out of the Blue and... Xanadu

Is there some Xanadu on this set? "I'm Alive" is one of my favorite workout songs. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

nope, it's not on there, either they don't consider it part of their offical discography or (more likely) it's some legal problems with publishing rights. or both the John Farrer/ONJ songs wouldn't make much sense on this set anyway
I think there is even some version of "Xanadu" on one of their collections without Olivia Newton Johns vocals but Jeff Lynn singing himself. don't have it though Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

It's unfortunate but I think they want to forget the 'Xanadu' experience I've seen comments by leader Jeff Lynne, dismissing that album. They also felt that the songs weren't used properly in the film.
