James Brown the instrumentalist

James Brown was the Godfather of Soul but he was also a good organ

player,harmonica player and a drummer.

I've seen him play these 3 instruments live and he had

an instrumental Organ solo albums.

Some of the classic riffs are played by James himself

on many of his classics (Hot Pants)

So can you postva link of James playing instruments.

What did he play?on whhich records and what do you think of him as Instrumentalist?

Yep

Off the top of my head I can not think of a single James Brown song that features harmonica.

I just find it odd that he played harmonica live but very rarely, if ever, in the studio.

James had a healthy ego and if he had even rudimentary skills on the harmonica I suspect that he would have wanted to show them off.

In small doses I quite like his organ playing but over the course of an album I can see how it could get a bit tiring.

Come on, his organ playing is atrocious. Don't know why some of you are trying to lick his dead ass. He was the world's funkiest man ever, but he was a poor instrumentalist.
