I never really understood WHY Twitter existed, when it first came about, i looked at it and thought, whats the big deal? i mean when it first came out everyone was praising that stupid little bird like it was the birth of christ or something. But after giving it a try for about an hour and looking at people that i would follow, i saw that alot of people used it the same way they use Facebook, a way to show that they are important when they arent even close. But as i saw as time passed it also became the way to start cowardly "Beefs" and throw insults at people when in the old days people had balls to do it in a live interview in front of a camera, and not by tapping on keys like a fucking coward. Of course we all know the tweet issues, between fake ass rb stars, lazy pop stars, wannabe actors, and loser football players that try to pass as men as they TYPE on a machine a "challenge" real brave. But recently im seeing all these nonsense insults just tossed out by fans of another artist at a "rival" artist so to speak, kind of like GAGA fans going at Spears fans and vice versa, again real lame. But now i read this issue where "haters" of pop star Demi Lovato, who i guess like some other "pop" teen female, decided to take to twitter and shoot "weight gain" and "fat" comments at a girl who "bravely" entered a rehab for eating disorders and some other problems, now out of that facilty she is doing fine, but as she said "quite maturely" "This issue i will deal with forever, there really isnt a cure" so twitter followers decided to blast her weight, which is already an issue in mainstream, because as much as people think we are more "aceepting" of women and have gone past the stereotypical stick figure blonde, just because we put Beyonce on a pedastool, we are just as narrow minded as we were 50 years ago about the "differences". So anyone who wants, click on Demi Lovato and look at how she looked at the MTV awards, if that is your view of fat or overweight, please get help yourself. Honestly she was the only female that night, that actually looked like a woman.

yeah but its even beyond that because here's a real "health" issue that people think is a laughing matter and is "free" to be taken shots at. I watched an older interview with the Late Johnny Carson and someone asked him about "off limit" jokes in his monologue, and he spoke about, how he stopped doing jokes about one public official one time because he found out they were struglging with alcohol and he felt it was wrong to keep making jokes about him, i mean imagine that philosophy today? I mean i love letterman but 90% of his jokes and all late nite comics are based on peoples issues.

With this i feel is out of line because Lovato should have been applauded to actually take herself into re-hab, and also because girls especially teen have alot of issues with "body" images, and if some girl llooks at Lovato and hears "people" think she is fat, how does it make them feel. The problem with social media is that everyone thinks they have a right and a platform.

I won't be the one who denies that the internet is bringing many benefits, but it certainly is damaging people and culture in a way no one could imagine 20 years ago.

I love the twitter celeb beefs. I won't even try to deny it. Pure entertainment and hilarity.

The one with Jennifer Hudson and some random fan was just too amusing. But people tweeting about how they could really use a pizza or a blow job is just ridiculous.

In theory, twitter seems like a good idea because it's cool for people to be able to have personal contact with their favorite artist. But unfortunately it's become this abusive thing because people both fans and artists abuse freedom of speech.

I can't be bothered to scroll through all the useless posts. If I want information on an artist, I go to their official site or their Facebook page to see what they are up to musically.

Twitter is for people who don't have a life. Why would you want to follow someone on line? Thats like being a stalker

agree. Its a two edged sword. theres alot of danger when u feel free to have no sensor of your thoughts and intentions. its like everyone has somethin to say these days, but is that a good or bad thing?

if its not tangible u betta check urself and realize u may not be in true reality. its a matrix of dialogue that will always question reality and ure truth. Because internet or not........ its still a form of u. Your words are apart of U no matter what u say.

I'll never forget how I heard of twitter. The headline was "Erykah Badu twittering during childbirth" and I was like and so scared for her until I read the article! Stupid bird shit!

I definitely agree with that. But sometimes when people say things that seem mean, they aren't trying to hurt others but are just joking around. The problem with the Internet is you can't hear someone's tone of voice or see their face, so it's hard to tell sometimes if someone is just joking or being seriously malicious and so things can be very easily misinterpreted.

I left Twitter, I think, in March of this year (not sure).

Ive always thought Twitter was dumb...dont have one never will the same with Facebook pointless.

but douchebags are everywhere, if it isn't the internet it's the tabloids, if not, it's rivals in the industry or lunatics in the streets etc.

but as for the internet/Twitter in particular, I think it's how celebrities decide to deal with it. I have seen some celebrities get the worst tasteless jokes thrown at them all the time, yet they act like they see nothing (and maybe they really don't) cuz they realize it's once you engage these fools that you'll have crossed the point of no return and it will be constant hell until you finally decide to ditch your account, just like what happened to James Franco a while ago.

I say if they can't handle it, then they should just stay away from it. or have their own private profile protected and get a separate one for their business/promotional stuff.

A lot of you are talking about the pop culture aspect of it. I know that's how people found out about Twitter, but it's gone beyond that over the past year. A lot of major news events made it on Twitter before it was on TV .
