Lady Gaga Joe Calderone VMA Opening - P 2011
is she (slyly) trying to convince hollywood movie makers that she looks as a dark burnette?

Gaga should have just sung the song in a nice outfit...that would have been more shocking than whatever she was trying to pull off last nite. BTW I knew she was going to fall somewhere in that performance.

The best performance was Bruno...I would kill to have those shoes he was wearing.

Did Britney get like 15 seconds to shine last night...I felt like the award was shared between her Gaga and Beyonce. Gaga all up in her face was feeling ill

Chris Brown part was enternatining to a point...then there was just too much jumping around. The beginning was hot cause it showcased that this child can really dance. Yeah he was walking like Mike but we have seen him do it before...he looked great in that white outfit too.

Kanye and Jay...well the set looked nice as they walked towards to main stage....the stage was overall visually beautiful.

Beyonce weave/lacefront was HUGE! That song is actually catchy but does she scream it out like that on the album!? That was so over the top. The baby bump rub was not cute IMO, however I wish her and the child a safe and healthy pregnancy. I hope it doesn't turn out to be more over saturation of her all in the news....that really isn't the safest route.

My poor Jessie J was NOT showcased to her ability, I actually found it quite annoying that you couldn't hear her sing. This girl CAN sing but I'm used to the no love for her here. shrug

The clip with Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse had me in tears. sad Such a waste of talent.

That Britney tribute was awful...what was that a 2 minute mini mix...then they basically did a tribute to Beyonce when they got on stage for her performance....says alot about Britneys career for them.

I think Brittany was being respectful but it was unnessary because SHE was being tributed LOL

She talked a little on Michael and then went straight into presenting Beyonce and talking about her she spent longer on her than MJ and herself combined. I didnt understand that myself

She technically didnt give a speech. While she technically doesnt deserve the award I think she could have spent more time on maybe talking about HER CAREER and her experiences in this short time frame then to just suddenly jump into presenting Beyonce.

Rest in Peace MTV. lol

Yes...I was confused at whome they were even talking about at first... lol Beyonce basically stole that whole moment...with no good reason...it wasnt technically her fault but I am willing to bet that the Teleprompter was telling her what to say. Seems like that chick sitting in the corner singing, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, Kanye/Jay, Beyonce even got more time than her. I kinda felt bad for Britney actually.

I dont think she stole it but Brittany GAVE it to her for some reason. and I did feel kinda bad for her to because I think Brittany felt like she HAD to do that like it was expected because its Beyonce.

Brit looked nice last night, simple but alot better than what she has been looking lately. She exactly looked like her old self.

I could SEE if Janet Jackson was performing next or Whitney Houston and she wanted to give that moment to THEM because those have been influences on MTV and her... like how she slightly did that to Michael but it was just Beyonce neutral I think all that praise was unnessary. I think like you said she was reading off the teleprompter or she was just being to modest because while I am not a fan she had more of a influence on MTV when it was on its last legs in the late 90's early 00's more than Beyonce.

Im happy Beyonce is having a baby its always an exciting time for ANY woman. HOWEVER, I am VERY tired of her overration and overpraise like she is a legend or like she change music or like she is such a HUGE deal in music its very sickoning now and rather disrespectful to the REAL innovators who are MORE worthy of the praise.

For example, I notice Janet was in her promo for MTV. She could have spent some time talking about her and how she influenced her as well as Michael and talked about her beginnings and to the point she is now. Didnt have to be long but I mean she was having a tribute not Beyonce LOL

It seems like now if Beyonce attends ANY award show she HAS to be acknowledge in some way even if it is your time to shine. neutral

One thing is that set and lights where the best.

Is it just me does Bruno Mars want to be the new Prince? He sings with passion and dance's (although not as good) in the same vein as Prince (early years).

Chris Brown was good-But I didn't like the copy MJ walk-It look like a copy cat. The trick is to take a move and make it your own. Although Chris Brown is a good dancer-he fails to "act" or carry the emotion on hise face to match his dance unlike MJ or even Prince.

GAGA-kind of boring and disappointing.

I think Bruno is great, he can dance, sing, but no where near Prince. His music is not that great imo, he doesn't have the personality, energy, originality like Prince.

I'll repeat what I said in the other thread about Beyonce's pregnancy reveal. I think this was a power move by Bey & Jay. I think MTV were probably planning a more elaborate tribute to Britney but it got trumped or upstaged by MTV being able to be the awards show used to reveal Beyonce's baby bump. (In other words, in exchange for airtime, they got to reveal Beyonce's pregnancy.)

Britney, like any other popular act was used as always for increasing their chances for ratings. I think they "leaked" their supposed list of presenters i.e. Madonna, Janet, etc.. just to get people talking all week about it, in hopes of having people tune in to see "who's going to present Britney her award?" These award shows are really pathetic neutral

Gaga was a hot mess but I was laughing so I was entertained loved it but it drag on too long which made it like enough already Gaga to people so I understand how some people got annoyed I honestly wanted her to change but she stayed in character. Adele out singed everybody she was too “classy” for that show. Beyonce is pregnant congrats maybe she will take a rest she seem to be the type to still dance on the stage with that baby though. Chris Brown was good I'll give the devil props overrall it was decent show but could have been better I was laughing more at the audience reactions than anything way better than the BET awards that's for sure.

Thats not alot compared to past years and that is the number of people that TUNED in that doesnt mean they watched the entire show.

500 million people could watch, MTV still wouldnt be relevant. The point it.. it is not taken seriously. All award shows arent.

5 dumbest moments from the Video Music Awards

VMA

I wish I could say that Lady Gaga showed up to last night's Video Music Awards wearing a pantsuit made of raw bacon. Or that Kanye West b*tch-slapped Justin Bieber. Or that Britney Spears flashed her "Britney" to the audience. Or that the Jersey Shore cast released a skin cancer awareness campaign. But sadly, we got none of that. The show was an anticlimactic montage of bad pop music (with the exception of Adele) interspersed with a few especially dumb moments. Such as:

1) Beyon awkwardly rubs pregnant belly on live television. B stole last night's show by revealing she and Jay-Z are expecting a bun in the million-dollar oven. She kicked off her performance bystating, "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside of me," before launching into a lackluster 1960s-style R&B show. She ended the ditty by unbuttoning her jacket and creepily rubbing her belly for the camera.

2) Justin Bieber pokes girlfriend with his flesh-colored snake.During the VMA pre-show, the teen popster was interviewed by his baby-faced girlfriend, Selena Gomez. "I have a snake," Bieber declared. "My snake's name is Johnson." He then proceeded to tease Gomez with his, er, snake. Biebs, where is your mother? I would like a word with her, please.

3) Lady Gaga. Period. Gags opened the show by bursting onto the scene as her male greaser alter-ego, Jo Calderone. She babbled about something I paid no attention to before launching into song with several other Danny Zuko lookalikes. Gags remained in male character throughout the show, which got old quick. I demand a do-over! With a dress made of scrambled eggs!

4) MTV and their oversaturated hype. It's all anyone could talk about — the big premiere of The Hunger Games trailer and a mysterious Britney Spears tribute, four years after her disastrous half-baked performance. As a hardcore Games fan (TEAM PEETA), I was thoroughly disappointed with the movie preview that depicted little more than a scared Jennifer Lawrence running through the woods. And as a closet Britney fan, I wanted good ol' Brit to say more than two words into the mic.

5) The chick with the broken foot. A singer I've never heard of was sitting on stage all night with the house band. After randomly breaking into song at every commercial, I found out that her name is Jessie J, thanks to the Twitter trending topics.

Im really glad the remains of the Hurricane.Tropical Storm, last night blew down a tree that ripped a power line that knocked out my power from 5-11:30pm yesterday, it was like GOD saying dont watch this shit son, (though i dont believe in any god, u get the point). So when i got power back i sat back and did what i have done now for almost a decade, listened to you folks and then checked out clips if i missed the show, which the last 5-6 i havent even turned on for a minute, and then checked over at my favorite celebrity pics site and see which ladies looked fucking hot and which didnt, cause in reality thats about all that MTV has going for it, and with that it even sucks, when Snooki is your big fashion/hot chick on the channel, time to fire some people somewhere.

So let me start at the Ladies, cause in reality i stopped caring about MTV's opinions on videos and music about 20 years ago.

Demi Lovato- Hot Girl, can sing actually, and showed class in her outfit choice

that was about it, the rest looked pretty bad, not looks wise, fashion wise was disasters, i mean Beyonce excluded because of pregnancy, everyone else was like how bad can i look.

the jersey shore girls, i cant believe the network pays them at all, i know girls who look a million times better, WAY better bodies and can also act their fake reality scripts, and the same guy for those dumb-ass jersey guys, honestly with hurricane headed for New Jersey i wished Gov Christie would have send them to a low lying area with no evacuation, because that show and its personnel, make the general IQ drop just by looking at them.

As for the show, well let me quote JD of "INXS" "Today you have to do the extreme for 15 minutes of talk, LADY Gaga has to wear meat for you to notice her", and that sums things up, everything is about image but nothing backs it up, sorry, im not hating because she at least has talent, but she has NO SIGHT at all, she gets no kudos either for Having Brian May on stage with her, after all GAGA is their term and where she got it. So honestly when its all image and show, your lost, i mean, because you will ALWAYS have to raise the "Shock" bar next time, and if all you do is Shock, it gets played very very quickly, and i at least thought she was more intelligent than that. Beyonce, well once again, sorry, but i found it tacky to do it that way, but whatever thats my opnion, but she makes it like she is carrying the "golden Child" i mean come on, just when she takes her foot out of her mouth for something she puts it in again for something else. Jay and Kayne could really care less, this album of theirs already bores me to death.

Adele was like the "white out" on a BIG MISTAKE of an evening and a network, but even her music cant cover what is missing from MTV, and that is "the ability to break ground and lead again"

LOL that was a funny read. But even if you don't like Beyonce, only someone ignorant would not sense how much sexism there is in her paragraph. It's okay if this reviewer doesn't like her or thinks she did it for publicity, but to call belly rubbing awkward, or even worse CREEPY is extremely sexist and offensive to her, as a woman. Just FYI, I would say this about any woman being insulted this way. It could be Miley Cyrus who I hate, and my opinion wouldn't change.

Its not really that, though its understandable and shes happy and god bless her with that, BUT my thing is this kid didnt even pop out yet and already hes in the spotlight, i mean i know way back when it was done to like on the I love Lucy show it was worked in the script, but to go on a tacky award show with alot of crappy people and use that as a platform, to thrust your child in the spotlight? these performers do it way way TOO much, kids need to be left out, no pictures, no nothing let them earn that shit.

honestly it was a little awkward when beyonce rubbed her stomach. Its like if she didn't open up her jacket I would not know she was pregnant. You really couldn't tell she was pregnant. Its like she purposely EMPHASIZED IT for attention.

They some how conveniently left out the part of britney going in for the kiss and her lip quivering. THAT WAS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING!!!

It says a lot when you have middle school kids tributing you and not your peers.
