Karen Wheeler. Whatever happened to her?
I thought S2S was hot when they came out. I liked their style, their sound, and their look (they and the folks in their videos rocked natural hair.) There must be a greatest hits comp somewhere? [This message was edited Fri Feb 14 15:10:16 PST 2003 by UptownDeb]

I remember her solo album "beach of the war goddess"
from 1993. I don´t think she has released anything since. It sounds what I can remember a lot like Soul II Soul in the production. /peace manki

Caron Wheeler is DA BOMB!
I've loved her ever since her vocals on "Keep On Movin'." Her a capella opening on "Back to Life" was just incredible... Steady are you ready? (are you ready?) What's goin on? (whats goin on?) Steady are you ready? (are you ready) What's goin on? (tell me whats goin on) Cold fresh air feeel the mellow dip thats in the air Ohhh yeaa, I'm bound take a look around Ohhh, whats goin down? However do you want me? However do you need me? However do you want me? However do you need me? However do you want me? However do you need me? However do you want me? However do you need me? As the beat kicks in! Her two albums, "UK Blak" and "Beach of the War Goddess" were great releases. UK Blak had that Soul II Soul feel to it, but a lot of the lyrics dealt with her disappointment with Jazzie B, with whom she had a falling out over Soul II Soul. The highlights from that album include the title track as well as "Blue (Is the Color of Pain)" and "Livin in the Light." They reconciled, and the reconciliation is chronicled in "Beach of the War Goddess" which featured much more organic (pre neo soul style) and Afro-beat style music. Highlights on that album were "I Adore You" (from the Mo Money soundtrack which got some radioplay), "Light as a Feather," the title track, and a nice cover of Jimi's "The Wind Cries Mary." She returned to work with Soul II Soul on their '95 release "Vol. 5: Believe" for a few tracks including "Love Enuff" which I remember getting some radio and airplay. Other than that the last I heard Caron was in New York working on an album since '99 but I never heard anything more. I know she's done vocalist work with others, including backing vox on Me'Shell's latest cd. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32
