M.D.L.T. Willis

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The J5 wrote and produced two songs for a group of sisters called MDLT Willis in 1974. The letters MDLT were the initials of the siblings 1st names: Maxine, Diane, Laverne, & Tina. The songs were on a single that was released on Joseph's short lived label called Ivory Tower International Records. The record didn't go anywhere so the other songs the group recorded were never released.

You didn't like "What's Your Game?" That song sounds like a hit to me. I'm surprised no one has sampled it.

I found this info on a site called Blast From the Past:

http://blast-from-thepast.../?tag=mdlt

The Jackson Five produced a girl group in 1974. They were a family of four sisters from Ohio called MDLT (Maxine, Diane, Laverne, Tina) Willis. They had one release on Joe Jackson’s Ivory Tower International Records label called “What’s Your Game.” It’s rumored that they were blackballed from the industry because one of the girls tried to seduce Michael.

It was around this time that I remember Joeseph Jackson managed a band called MDLT Willis. It was a girl group and it seemed that Joseph and the Jackson brothers were hell bent on getting Michael to lose his virginity. So it was arranged for one of the girls to go into Michael’s hotel room and seduce him. But Michael had no interest in the girl or, it seems sex. The girl was so angry that she pushed him out on the balcony, according to Rose Fine, who tutored Michael at the time. She had to stop the concert tour because of this…Michael was frazzled and everyone else seemed puzzled.
*from Michael Jackson: The Man Behind The Mask by Bob Jones with Stacy Brown.*

Blacklisted by who, Berry Gordy? Why would he care about a singer coming on to Mike? Now he might care about his group producing someone else on another label while they are under contract to him, and shut down the sisters record. Motown did turn down another group of sisters called The Jackson Sisters who tried to sign with the label. They later made a 45 named I Believe In Miracles on a small label called Prophesy Records and also opened up for the J5 on tour.

I said the same thing.

Maybe it was Katherine after she saw Joseph getting a little too close to one or ALL of them. lol

In the book Motown: Music, Money, Sex, and Power, the authur said it was a prostitute was hired to help MJ lose his viriginity.

She wouldn't have bothered with trying to destroy the sisters' career. She probably would have scheduled a meeting with them with little Janet & Randy instead. razz
