Someone unmentionable, you know who
John Lennon cause I'm curious about what he would have been like in the 80's and 90's too among his peers in the music industry.
Jimi Hendrix cause his guitar playing was so amazing and if Clapton lasted for decades, he would have too cause he's way better. Even if his popularity decreased, he would have still toured and done duets. Can you imagine him working with funk artists or contributing to the grunge scene or possibly to hip hop or guesting on many records such as with Santana? |

I agree with Hank Williams for this song alone:
You'll meet many just like me upon life's busy street With shoulders stooped and heads bowed low and eyes that stare in defeat Or souls that live within the past where sorrow plays all parts Where a living death is all that's left for men with broken hearts You have no right to be the judge to criticize and condemn Just think but for the grace of God it would be you instead of him One careless step a thoughtless deed and then the misery starts And to those who weep death comes cheap these men with broken hearts Oh so humble you should be when they come passing by For it's written that the greatest men never get too big to cry Some lose faith in love and life when sorrow shoots her darts And with hope all gone they walk alone these men with broken hearts You've never walked in that man's shoes or saw things through his eyes Or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies Some were paupers some were kings and some were masters of the arts But in their shame they're all the same these men with broken hearts Life sometimes can be so cruel that a heart will pray for death God why must these living dead know pain with every breath So help your brother along the road no matter where he starts For the God that made you made them too these men with broken hearts
Yup, he was arguablly the greatest songwriter/storyteller that the genre ever had and after he died he left a huge void. You could point to Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard as being two people that carried on from where Hank left off and I love both of them but I also think that we were robbed of many more great songs and that Hank's best music may have been ahead of him. |

Buddy Holly almost certainly had a ton of great music that he never got a chance to perform. |

Who needs a ''hit'' record to come back: Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Diana Ross.
Also Berry Gordy and Quincy Jones. I can't remember the last time they produced anything good or made someone a star
Stevie, Prince & Diana just need to make great albums again but with Diana I don't know if anyone besides the late Nick Ashford and the surviving Valerie Simpson could do her wonders. With Stevie, he's so focused on enjoying his elder statesmenship that he just chooses to rest on his laurels when there's evidence he still can work magic in his music but he's yet to release it. Same with Prince.
Diana needs to spice it up a bit. She just needs a new look and sound. Also prince and stevie need to do an album together. That would be hot |

She's not a "legend" but I would like to bring Aaliyah back to see if she would become one. Gone too soon.
The legend I would bring back is Michael Jackson. I'm still not over his death. I used to be a huge fan, but I can barely listen to his music anymore. Come back, Michael! |

Picture Jimi dressing like Prince and doing electro-funk in the mid80s.

Interesting question would Prince have had such a window of opportunity IF Hendrix was still around? The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything. |

1) MJ
2) Bruce Lee

I love your picks! Especially Bruce..I'd selfishly bring him back so he could be my teacher. That'd be so cool......and I'd also get to drool over him . He was a beautiful man.
I'd like to add the following:
1. Marvin Gaye
2. Barry White
3. James Brown
4. Minnie Riperton
All I can think of right now....
