why don't these people just go indie and do shows around the country and build up a following. Guarantee she's gonna get dropped again. Guess its not that simple $$$
Very good point. Some of these artists don't realize that the industry has changed drastically. They go from label to label, hoping for the "hit" record that will never happen.I think Ciara just signed a new deal, too.Good luck with that Do something different! Instead of an album, release an EP with just a few songs.Promote it,perform it live, and build up anticipation for a complete album.
The music industry has changed drastically. Mainly, because of YouTube. Artists don't build followings by doing club dates, anymore. They build buzz online and by going "viral". No one would know who Justin Bieber is if it wasn't for YouTube. |

I don't think Brandy has ever been a "do shows around the country and build up a following" type of artist. She is a media-personality that sings. She uses TV to promote her music. She has a few TV projects coming up and is in talks for a film role. Now, she also has record deal (again). She's not a teenager anymore so her days of "building up a following" are over. People know who she is, she just has to make music people want to buy.
but considering that her last few albums flopped, isn't it obvious that the old strategy isn't working? Artists like Ciara,Ashanti and Brandy keep doing the same thing, hoping for different results. It ain't gonna happen. The public has simply decided that they don't want to buy an album by these artists.Time to try a new strategy. |

Ciara? Ashanti? I'm sorry, but neither of them have ever been media personalities. I don't know what to tell either of them because they are not known for anything besides music.
But, Brandy's last album flopped because it was a complete departure from her previous work. What R&B station was going to play Right Here (Departed) or Long Distance? I really don't know what her people were thinking (although I love the album). Also, she took a complete break from TV (because of the car accident) leading up to that release. It was doomed. Right now, I believe Brandy is doing the best thing for Brandy. I don't lump her with Ciara, Ashanti, Mya, Monica, Ameriie, or anyone else. |

I would say that Ciara is over. Brandy still has life in her, but she needs to do more acting, plus it doesn't help that really, she still looks like a kid "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." |
