I love the soft intensity in her eyes. What a beautiful and poetic woman she was.

I have had this picture on my wall for several years now. I too am moved when I look at it as I remember having read (as Chico said) that this was during her last recording and she was quite near death at the time. I am a huge fan of Billie Holiday's music and have read several versions of her biography. The picture of her with the tear probably is the best statement about her life in general. A couple of these pictures are new to me.

Thanks for re-posting it.

And I agree that this picture has captured a lot. I'm not familiar with her story, only can remember someone saying that her life was tragic. And I can see a tragedy happening from someone who lived a troubled life.
