Peter Gabriel Or Phil Collins??????

Both of these dudes were in Genesis & both had pretty nice solo careers. Overall, Who's music do you think was better?

For raw, experimental, progressive rock joints: Peter

For pop songs and some balladry: Phil

Overall: I'd pick Peter.

Definitely Phil Collins. Although Peter Gabriel's music is far from shabby.

Phil Collin's music is mostly boring imo

He writes safe lifeless mor tunes for the masses

Got to admit i like 'In The Air Tonight' and 'Mama' though

Although Peter's music is probably more deep and meaninful (most of the time)

I have to go with Phil, I just love Phil Collins music heart

But Peter's symphonic concert was genius.

But Phil's concert was a pure treat smile

So... Phil wins my heart!

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Yeah Phil often gets a bad rap for his more AC side, but in all fairness, its not easy to craft pop songs and/or ballads, so we can all call them cheesy and whatever, but the idea of love is "cheesy". But in his defense further it is thought that was all Phil could do, but Phil was in this band with Peter, he wasnt brought in to replace him, he was in the band already, and Phil from then all the way through could do both types of songs, i mean tracks like "Mama" "Home by the Sea" "Domino" etc...were great ROCK tracks , it just so happend that he was also damn good at doing pop songs like "Thats All" "Follow You Follow Me" etc..

Peter Was good but there was only so far you could go with the whole "Progressive" thing and putting on a goats head and throwing these alice cooper like shows, it was more shock/art than content. And like Dennis DeYoung of STYX said talking about progressive rock (which styx was from 1969-1973) theres only so far you can go with songs that go on for 20minutes.

"Sledgehammer" is a pretty good song, but that's pretty much the only Gabriel song I can even get into, he's boring. With Phil Collins there's so many songs he's done that I absolutely love. So for me it's not even a question, Phil Collins wins this, all day, all night, by a country mile.

Uncle Phil by a nice country mile.

I encountered Gabriel's pop-prog wankery one balmy afternoon not too long ago, it was akin to stepping in dogshit.

Their voices are actually very similiar in texture. *tries to be indifferent to gabriel*

What a knobhead:

yeahthat

I love both artists but Peter Gabriel is a more of a "serious" artist, his "Us" (1992) and "So" (1986) albums are amazing, better than any Phil Collins albums!!

I still love some songs by Phil Collins though. smile
