That's a mess. Michael and Quincy probably got in a fight about what to put on the album. Remember, the album was originally a three-album project for Michael. Quincy wanted it a single disc. At the end, Michael agreed to the single disc concept.

Michael was working on songs before Quincy officially signed on to it.

Tomboy (unreleased)

Hot Fever (unreleased)

Smooth Criminal (the version with Roger Troutman)

Speed Demon

What You Do To Me (unreleased)

Another Part Of Me

We Are Here To Change The World

Make Or Break (unreleased)

were all concieved in '85 and Quincy and Michael started working on the album in mid early 1986 if I recall. the Bad video was done in December 1986, 8 months before the final incarnation of the album was even finished

Then Dirty Diana and Liberian Girl were conceived in 1983-84

VintageJunkie posted that now hilarious MTV report on the birth of the internet.

Does anyone else remember the HIStory website when the album launched. It was a site I thought at the time that was ahead of its time - very visually rich for a hypertext world and deep in content.

It was laid out like a museum and you could venture around various parts to see MJ's works.

My favourite part was they had the storyboard illustrations for the HIStory trailer - very interesting stuff.

[Edited 8/19/11 22:20pm]

You mean the official MJ subsite on Sony's website that was listed in the back of the HIStory booklet? Yup, I remember it. Quite literally the first website I EVER saw.

My cousins are professional music producers and engineers. Back in the mid to late 90's, they also ran their own record label. I remember in '95 they had a Mac computer with internet access. They also had Pro Tools on that system even at that time, and a HUGE mixing desk next to it.

Anyway, I used to love hanging out there and watching, and learning. So when HIStory came out, I made them show me the site and how the internet worked. I was just a kid, would have been 7 or 8 when this happened but I was fascinated even that early on lol

...You're just now finding out about the hoax conspiracy theory? This shit started up almost immediately after he died.

I'll be honest - do I think he's still alive? Absolutely. But I believe most of those people who are devoted to this hoax stuff have gone off the deep end, spend way too much time and energy on this shit, and read 'hints' and 'clues' that aren't there into everything.

All of this footage linked here is already available in the bonus features on the Blu-Ray.

As for the 100 hours of footage - I don't think all of it will ever be released.

I think Sony will release an Anniversary edition (maybe at the 5 year mark) with more of a documentary feel taking us through the inception and initial rehearsal of the show.

What you have to think about is that basically most of the footage will be of the same songs over and over - and if it's covered off by 2 cameras then maybe there is only 50 hours - still quite a lot.

But do you really want to see JAM, for example, done 18 times?

I'm more interested in the conceptual stuff, and MJ working with the band - and I assume that kind of footage will eventually come out in some form iin a future release.

Btw, I don't know if anyone saw it, but Karen Faye was saying that Michael was going to fire Zaldy (the Filipino fashion designer) and had already hired someone else to design different outfits for the tour..... because the outfits that Zaldy had designed looked good but he hadn't take into consideration the fact that Michael would need a lot of flexibility to move around and dance, particularly in certain songs... and Zaldy's outfits were quite heavy and not very flexible.

And it's already known that the outfits were already designed without Zaldy having met Michael or taken specific sizes from him. Which certainly seems strange.

Ryan Gosling Says George Clooney Is Like...Michael Jackson?!

It's certainly not a comparison we ever thought we'd ever hear, but Ryan Gosling thinks George Clooney is like...Michael Jackson!

Why? Read on to find out. It's not as kooky as you might think...

First you need to know that Gosling's upcoming flick, The Ides of March, costars and was directed by Mr. Clooney.

"It was amazing, like watching somebody try to explain a song in their head," the Crazy Stupid Love body star says in the new issue of New York magazine. "I can only compare it to seeing Michael Jackson in This Is It, where he's trying to explain to a keyboard player how to play a certain part—even in the sea of parts being played, he can pick that out. That's kind of what George is like. He's like Michael Jackson, basically."

What’s he like as a director?

I assume that’s a compliment.
I love Mike Jackson. [Clooney] knew exactly what he wanted, and he was very specific. A lot of directors aren’t so clear.

It has been reported that Zaldy and Michael had met for a few fittings. MJ even tried on the Billie Jean pants and the opening number outfit and asked for bigger shoulders on the opening outfit. He even got custom made shoes created for MJ after discussions with him. Also Zaldy was working with Michael Busch, who obviously knew a thing or two about dressing MJ for the stage.

I'm not sure if a fully fledge dress rehearsal had taken place, but it seems strange that with 3 weeks to go before opening night you would scrap all the wardrobe.

BTW Zaldy is designing the outfits for The Immortal gear that the cirque perfromers will be wearing, so I assume he knows a thing or two about flexiblity or movement.

Not sure what the real story is here.
