Oh holy Lil Kim-ness. Did Latoya also 'case' of vitaligo?

Or did she just tell the truth about her.....erm...contrast from the past and from other memberes in the family.

Also, is the cosmetic surgeon for the family the same person? He should be sued!

Hey, don't even hint at that. Michael did have vitiligo. Who cares if Latoya bleached her skin. And if she did, who really cares? Does it matter? It's really no different from people going outside in the sun all day to get darker or going to tanning salons.

um, i going to assume two things.

one, that both of you are very young and generally unfamiliar with the jacksons in the 70s. latoya has always been fair-skinned.

two, that you're not americans or at the very least, unfamiliar with african-american heritage.

most black americans have at least one white ancestor somewhere in their family trees. on this program, 'who do you think you are' where celebrities sign up to trace their roots, one ex-football player, emmit smith, had his dna checked. the results came back that he was 85% african-american. the woman who gave him the test was surprised b/c she said for most african americans, the percentage of black is much LOWER. therefore, the jacksons, like most african-americans, had some white ancestor somewhere back in their tree, and that heritage is reflected in the color of latoya's skin. hell, my cousin was as dark as night and gave birth to a white looking child because his father was white. needless to say, appearances can be deceiving, as clearly cousin kat had to have had some european somewhere in her to hook up with the father's genes to produce such a child. wink

NO, i'ts REALLY different. I mean, HUGELY different.

A white person who wants to tan is wanting to look like a white person with a tan. There is no white guy in America who wants to look like an African American. This had nothing to do with intrinsic self-confidence, but rather how the cards are stacked against minorities (Asians included) in the media. There is still only one real archetype of ‘good looks’ in the media despite what they may want you to think. And those Jackson’s reinforce this.

It's a reaffirmation and reinforcement of an anglo-centric image of beauty as being the archetype standard of beauty for all people.

If I walk like master, talk like master, and look like master, maybe master will love me.

It sends the wrong message to children who are already accosted by images in the media that they are not beautiful enough they way they are.

It’s gross.

Do to an unsual mod decision, I'm now having to post my original tread contents in this MJ thread.

So....I'll pretend this is just my original thread, and fuck you folks who take issue with it.

Alright, let's settle this HOT MESS RIGHT NOW!

Which video is worsE?

Dennis Parker : Like an Eagle

Or Michael Jackson and his girl Eddie Murphy: What's up with you?

OMG, you guys. I just figured out a way to make this video totally enjoyable -- just imagine Eddie and MJ passing a giant doobie back and forth for the video's duration.

You're welcome!

Why does the org have a fetish for whatupwithu? Every thread I'm going to is referencing it or has images of it in their signature.... My favourite part is when Eddie shuts mj up at the end hehehe priceless!

I bought I Want You Back : The Unreleased Masters today, was being lazy buying it when it came out though I listened to Buttercup, but I own it now.

If it's a recent fetish, I'm guessing it's because there was just a thread pitting it against another awful video, but that thread got locked. So we are PROTESTING by taking our sick obsession to other threads. razz Honestly, though, I do really like the interactions between the two of them in the video -- it's too bad the setting couldn't have been a little less....gaudy.

Also, I've now decided that I'm going to envision MJ and Eddie passing that giant doobie back and forth while they ride on a winged unicorn.

I love it too, don't get me wrong, it's so....gay! lol

MJ's a cutie in it, and was kind/humble enough to let Eddie's non singing ass shut him up at the end....I admit though, I like it when Eddie does the high gasping vocals towards the end of the song when the vocals were layering when he went huh huh huh huh lol

AVC: Are you still owed money by Michael Jackson’s estate?

JL: Yes. Our lawsuit comes to court in October, finally. But I did get some money about six months ago. It’s like Elvis and Colonel Parker, but with Elvis there was only one Colonel Parker and with Michael there were a long line of crooks, and it’s a terrible situation. And Michael would always say, [speaking in a high-pitched voice] “I thought they paid you.” [Laughs.] I would always see him call and scream at the lawyers, but they didn’t pay any attention to him.

AVC: With having to go through this to get what is owed to you, has that tainted the memory of making “Thriller” or “Black Or White”?

JL: I was and remain very fond of Michael. I liked him a lot. He was a sad character in that he was an abused child. And “Thriller” I guess was his peak in terms of his powers, by the time I did “Black Or White” he was mad. [Laughs.] The guy that I worked on “Thriller” was a genius and he was 20 years old, but it was like working with a gifted 10-year-old. The guy who I worked on with “Black Or White” was crazy. Michael had gone mad. [Laughs.] I just feel he’s a tragic figure. I liked him a lot and you won’t hear me say bad things about Mike. I mean, I don’t believe he was a child molester. I really do not. I think he was damn weird, no doubt about it, but in terms of sexually molesting a kid, I don’t think so. When he was on trial, I tried to go to show support, and his father wouldn’t let me in the court. His father hates me. I mean, he was surrounded by bad people, and he also created a lot of his misfortune, but he was an incredible performer. Seeing him live in a stadium—and I’ve worked with a lot of people—I’ve never seen anyone who had that kind of power onstage. But in real life he was just a skinny little guy who wasn’t there. He had no presence.

I bought a vinyl copy of Off The Wall the other day for $10.99 and 2 copies of Bad (one for my friend in Chicago) and they're in great shape too biggrin

So far I only have:

Destiny

Off The Wall

Thriller (first pressing with the complete lyrics to "The Lady In My Life" on the inside sleeve)

Victory

Bad

I saw Got To Be There, Ben, Music And Me, Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5, ABC, Third Album, Goin' Back To Indiana, a promotional copy of The Jacksons, and Triumph. All around .99-$4.99 each so I'll be going back a couple of times in the coming weeks biggrin

The Prince and Stevie Wonder sections in the store..... faint

somehow, i don't believe landis saying he went to court to show support to mj, but joe wouldn't let him in. how the hell would joe have any control over who did and didn't get to see mj at court? it's possible that he hated landis. i seem to recall that joe was supposedly banned from the thriller set, but i still don't see how he could have controlled who saw mj and who didn't. where was mesereau, for example?

also, don't be too upset about landis calling mj 'crazy'. one, he's been saying silly shit about mj ever since he decided to pursue this lawsuit, in spite of his claim 'you won't hear me say bad things'. two, i doubt he ever saw mj get on a phone in his presence and call any lawyers. more likely, mj would have had the lawyers deal with landis directly w/o his involvement. notice that the estate is fighting his claim. if they thought he was owed anything beyond what they have been legitimately paying him, they would have paid him and settled this out of court.

on edit: that's a pix of steven spielberg and his then-wife amy irving w/mj, not landis.

Millenium Concerts court case, 2002

Lawyer Miller alleged that the star never even rehearsed for the gigs.

“I conceptualise everything, ” said Jackson. “I visualise what I want the concert to look like. I stand in front of a mirror in my bathroom and try out the dance moves. It’s hard work.”

Miller asked Jackson if “all the choreographers, technicians, backing singers and band” were in his bathroom for the rehearsal.

Jackson said: “I’m not sure. I don’t want to guess.”

somehow, i don't believe landis saying he went to court to show support to mj, but joe wouldn't let him in. how the hell would joe have any control over who did and didn't get to see mj at court? it's possible that he hated landis. i seem to recall that joe was supposedly banned from the thriller set, but i still don't see how he could have controlled who saw mj and who didn't. where was mesereau, for example?

also, don't be too upset about landis calling mj 'crazy'. one, he's been saying silly shit about mj ever since he decided to pursue this lawsuit, in spite of his claim 'you won't hear me say bad things'. two, i doubt he ever saw mj get on a phone in his presence and call any lawyers. more likely, mj would have had the lawyers deal with landis directly w/o his involvement. notice that the estate is fighting his claim. if they thought he was owed anything beyond what they have been legitimately paying him, they would have paid him and settled this out of court.

on edit: that's a pix of steven spielberg and his then-wife amy irving w/mj, not landis.

Yeah, I know.

I love Michael and it hurts hearing people call him crazy. neutral And I am not sure he had no presence. I've never been in a room privately with him, but when I saw him, he seemed mesmerizing even when not performing. And I wonder why he didn't fire some people that he felt were not listening to him. I mean, it was their job. neutral

Oh yes! He doesn't want talk bad about him, but calls him "damn weird" and "mad". And he had no "presence"?? What an asshole. I saw Michael many times in the flesh off stage and if he had one thing, it was presence.

I don’t want to guess.”

lol

I love his sense of humour. lol
