Take away Lenny's posturing and his cliched retro brand of Hendrix lite, and have him write real songs again like his first two albums. That's a start!

I don't think he's a transcendent talent, but Lenny has his good moments. Vocally he's very ... nasally.

He never fully Grasp Words&Music IMHO.as Hit&Miss&Formula Driven as He is&the Way His Record Company Has Programmed Him to Be it's Amazing He has a Helluva Drummer like Cindy Blackmon?? as weak as the Scene is today&Considering He gets Madd Play&Props on White Rock Stations Through out the Country you would think He would be a bit further in His Musical Career?? but He is just A Average Cat getting by more on Hype&happy with that aspect thus far.

I actually do have to agree with you maxx - for being of semi-average talent, he sure has done well for himself the last decade or so. I've been a huge fan since '91, I guess because I love the vibe. but that last record...didn't seem like it had its heart in the right place.

i think lenny does just fine by himself. His sound may be a bit more commercial than it was when he first started, but hey, he IS a pop star.

very well said - I like Lenny because nobody's doing it like that anymore - and I still believe Lenny's got an incredible voice and a lot of unique things to say musically, especially in today's scene.

I can't say as much for Prince lately.

exactly... He's just a supercool, play by the book rocker. I'd like to see him at least once push the boundaries, and do something that won't make you go 'whoa that sounds like [insert famous rocker here]' But whatever

I love all the Lenny Albums...EXCEPT THE NEW ONE!!! ill UGH...All the music sounds the same and it sounds like he wrote most of the songs on a napkin. rolleyes CIRCUS is my favorite. I don't know about the rest of you, but the same goes for Prince...when Artist's are in pain OR are suffering (for whatever reason) the music is better!! PAIN = ART!! lol

Lenny is such a talented guy... and it's ridiculous people still brand him as a Prince clone or a plunderer of 70s music. He's just an all-round talented guy.

Let Love Rule, Mama Said, Are You Gonna Go My Way, Circus, 5, Lenny... all of these albums have some truly great songs on there. He's as eclectic and creative as he always was...

Circus is my fave by the way.

yeah, his lyrics have pretty much always sucked!! lol

I have always loved Lenny Kravitz, but lately all his songs sound exactly the same! I'll hear the first few chords of one of his songs, and it will sound just like a all of his other recent stuff. It's starting to remind me of the Ramones, who pretty much only played three chords! lol

I liked his first two albums.I read a decent review of Let love Rule in Q mag back in '89.I took a chance and liked what i heard on that album. One of the best debut albums ever IMO, infact his first two albums were great but he definately has lost it a bit since.
