A new 5-CD Elvis Presley box set -- Young Man With The Big Beat -- will be released September 27 by RCA/Legacy. The set celebrates 1956, the year that transformed Presley from a promising regional performer to the most popular figure in the world.

Young Man With The Big Beat includes Presley's complete 1956 masters as well as never-before heard interviews, performances and outtakes. It will be released with a deluxe, 12"x12", 80-page book featuring rare photos, memorabilia, plus RCA and Elvis Presley Enterprises documents.

The package also includes a day-by-day 1956 timeline that includes several detailed entries, including:

August 4, 1956: Presley traded in his graffiti-plagued lavender Lincoln for a 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II during a Florida tour attended by upwards 15,000 people.

Young Man With The Big Beat is available for pre-order at elvis1956.com.

I guess if you're getting into Elvis it would be a great start. I already have most of this stuff on other box sets(http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_18?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=elvis+50%27s+masters&sprefix=elvis+50%27s+masters), so I'll skip it.

I bought this http://completeelvis.com/ (one of the first 1000) so it will be a while before I feel the need to buy anything Elvis again. But that unreleased concert would be great to have!

Cool. I wish there was a record version though.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This needs to be done with Little Richard's stuff, but I don't know who controls his music. It would probably come out on some budget label like Collectables, if at all. I wonder about Sam Cooke. Most of his music is out of print too. Is his stuff owned by RCA, Sony, Keen, ABKCO, or all of them?

This is the only Sam Cooke Boxset out in the US, which I bought when it first came out: http://www.amazon.com/Man...amp;sr=1-1

I hope they do another one in the future with some cool outtakes. I think the best stuff on Elvis is the FTD stuff although it's pricey.

Now THAT is something I would DEFINITELY buy.
