Yeah that's not cool... I mean say what you want about the song sucking. But the fact that she's being bullied, is not alright.

They're jealous, so they're taking that out on her. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

I'm not surprised....she said she's been receiving death threats ever since the Friday video. I don't know if kids are necessarily jealous though. They seem to be saying 'Go kill urself' type of shit just to look cool, or just because everyone else says that...poor girl.

This is what passes for bullying these days?

That's pussy s**t compared to what I had to go through from bullies in Jr. High! Name-calling, pushing, punching, kicking, threats... And you had to deal with it; no hiding from it at home. If you didn't go to school, you got your butt whupped at home. I was more scared of my Dad than bullies. Quoted from Rebecca's Twitter (@MsRebeccaBlack [Verified]) account...
Hey guys! So, Nightline didn’t tell the whole story about why I decided to be home schooled. Although the bullying was one reason I left school, the MAIN reason was that my school has a policy that missing school because of work would be unexcused, so I entered a California online high school for performers and athletes to get credit for work they do at home or on the road. Bottom line, I can’t follow my dreams while going to a normal school. It’s just not possible in my school district. [Edited 8/15/11 0:18am]

^ Hmm figured there was more to it. If she had left because some jackoffs were mocking her with that song, then that wouldn't be a good excuse.

Oh well. What did she or her parents expect? Releasing that ludicrous "production" was an inane decision anyway, and only happened 'cause her father is mega-paid. I can't empathaze with that. Besides, they got what they wanted: Plenty of attention. This ABC story is only a ploy to get more. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. It's just ridiculous. I can't say I feel for the girl either. IDK... I'm just amazed that people even paid attention to it. And to this day I still haven't played that damn song or its video and still don't feel the need to. And again why is this NEWS? Oh yeah I forgot we're in the Famous For Just Showing Up generation. My bad.

It's pretty annoying to have other teenagers constantly shouting crap at you. You pass them by in the hallway and someone makes fun of you so that everyone else can hear it. Would you like that to happen to you on a daily basis several times a day? This type of bullshit is exactly what happens in junior high and despite it being mentally taxating there's very little that the teachers seem to be willing to do to stop it.
Her song might have been crap but she should have the right not to be publicly harassed because of it.

It's really unfortunate to hear that someone has been bullied. I mean, I've been bullied. It's not fun. It tears you up inside.
...but.... has anyone noticed that lately there has been this whole 'anti-bullying' trend? I mean, lately every celebrity has been spilling out sob stories about bullying and what not. I understand that it is to help those who are being bullied to not feel alone and know that 'it gets better' and shit like that. I think that's great.. but lately this whole thing seems like a trend. Or am I just alone here?

What she describes sounds more like people annoying and ribbing her than bullying her. There is a difference. And clearly she and her parents wanted her to be famous. What are they complaining about when people dare to notice her?

I really can't blame them. After I heard that god-awful song, I wanted the strangle her, too. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Why does the media keep talking about this girl? Why does Ne1 give a runny shit? I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

and her's is? I'm sorry, but one song does not a career make, and from what I have heard "Friday",she is not going to have a career in music. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

I fear the day when we see the headlines "Rebecaa Black commits suicide over Friday".
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It kind of bothers me the way the media prays on children now.
I think Friday is one the most hilarious and aweful songs ever, but the bullying and mean comments about her are a bit dark.
Rebecca is a bit different from the 'star wars kid' in the sense that she was seeking this. Her mother paid 4 grand for this. They just had this inflated sense of what her talent was worth, and paid a heavy price for it.
That star wars kid though---that was just wrong.

Nevermind that what she describes is not actual bullying.

I think it's idiotic that people would be giving her death threats. The classmates sound like they were just making fun of her song and it got to her. She's what, 14?
Her mom prob. told her to not paint the school in a negative light, so that might be why she added the whole thing about being absent from class.
Being a kid or a teenager in the limelight can be dangerous, esp. if you're famous but not rich. Rebecca said in the interview she has enough money to go to college, but it sounds like she's made a million by how she responded. Not sure how that's possible unless hits on You Tube equal dollars, or millions of people worldwide actually did legally download her song.
She prob. wanted to finish out her school year, but with the timing of the song becoming a hit, prob. didn't help.
Now she needs to take writing and music producing classes, so she can make her own money.

In the long run, finishing high school would be more useful to her.

Her parents are doing a huge disservice to her by pulling her out of school and encouraging her to pursue her "career" instead of an education. That won't benefit her in the long run. Sounds like a case of parents who wanna be in the biz. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I can't understand why anyone would result to sending her death threats? Over a song? Geez.

I gotta admit that dumbass song is catchy. At any rate, I think they're gonna have to pull from planet Earth to protect her from bullying. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
