Lady Gaga is over...

http://neerizzle.hubpages...ga-is-over

She peaked, and now she falls

Like every celebrity, Lady Gaga has officially reached her peak. We all knew it was going to happen sooner or later, and she actually lasted longer than most expected. With her 2nd full length album "Born This Way" coming out earlier this summer, she finally managed to over-saturate herself into oblivion.

Now don't get me wrong, I've been a Lady Gaga fan since the beginning. Before she got mainstream attention, her song Just Dance was released in early 2008 and pretty much flopped in the US. It hit big in Canada, because Canadians know where their music is at. Soon after the song rebounded in the US and reached number 1. To prove herself as no one-hit wonder,Poker Face, her next single, hit even bigger and reached #1 in every major chart.

...

After what seemed to be an eternity to her fans, Born This Way, the first single from her new album was finally released. It instantly debuted at number 1 on theBillboard Hot 100, and stayed on top for several weeks. As successful as her single was, it was clear that this is where Lady Gaga's reign would end. Her second single Judas peaked at number 10, her lowest on the Billboard Hot 100, before falling completely off the chart a few weeks later. It was her WORST performing single to date. In my opinion that is really a shame, since I think Judas was not only the best song from the album but one of her best songs over all. After her album release in May, many of her songs charted on the Hot 100, but mostly due to heavy media hype. The only reason her album even sold as much as it did in the first week is because of an Amazon promotion that sold it for 99 cents for the week. It quickly fell out of the #1 position soon afterwards.

Her third single Edge of Glory quickly (perhaps too quickly) jumped into the Top 10. It may be part of the reason Judas performed as bad as it did. May was about the last of the Lady Gaga hype in recent news. Her album burned out as quickly as it ignited, and her single Edge of Glory, while still a huge hit, is nothing compared to previous songs. Her core fan-base is shrinking, and casual listeners are just tired of her.

For the time being, the era of Lady Gaga has official ended. The best of the best could not keep themselves stable at the top, including Michael Jackson and Britney Spears. Will she make a comeback? Probably. Will she ever top herself? Probably not.

Do you guys agree? Are you sad...or relieved?

She's not over, but Born This Way is definitely underwhelming in comparison to The Fame and The Fame Monster performance wise (specifically singles).

MJ? This article could have been about toilet paper and MJ would have been thrown in. Stupid comparison.

Nah, it ain't over. Every artist has peaks and valleys in regards to albums and sales, some more pronounced than others.

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

I think she'll be ok, she just suffered from overexposure and needs a break for a little while

Yea duh. It happens to everybody. You try to tell these stans the difference between "hot now" and "longevity" and they don't get it. But I understand. It's hard seeing it when your fave is at their peak. I didn't get it at first either.

Everybody is always on the search for the next new thing.

I think they just did...

I know I'm a Britney critic, but did she not have a couple of #1's this year?

They just had to drag MJ & Britney into the article didn't they? Actually, neither Brit or MJ have ever truly had a flop album so I don't know what that person is talking about.

Gaga's album is not a flop either. It's sold quite decently as far as I know, but her singles definitely have underperformed. I really do feel that many people are already over Gaga.

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

Being top 10 is still good, everything will not go to #1, and they left out Gaga's other hits in between. Today's journalists don't know anything or know proper research

lord this is dumb evil rolleyes

I don't care much for GaGa but this is silly, and is one thing i was always confused about in music. If you have a song on the hot 100 that seem's a big deal to me.... it's a collection of every genre so even if it's 79 to me that is still a big deal.

Top 40 you have a BIG hit, and top 10 well.... HUGE... whether it is there for 1 week or 11 it's top 10 how can u say a song is a flop?

Is this what they where saying about Prince after Purple Rain lol, well he's not selling a million a week so he's over. Oh U Got the look is #2? SOTT only had 3 top 10's? he's over confused

The lady is still very popular yes increibly overexposed but she has a strong fan base as does Adele which is keeping here selling incredibly well to.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

IMO, Born This Way is her best album.

I never give any credit to these op-ed style doomsday reviews.

I liked Gaga at the beginning of her career: a talented, creative artist. But when she turned into the
complete freak, quality of the music began to fall sharply. .... I'm sorry, dear, your career is already far behind the peak.

I don't believe she's a freak, she is just putting on an act and washes off her makeup the minute she steps off that stage, don't fool yourselves.

She has some really strong songs on the current album, but I prefer stuff from her earlier work too though not as full albums, so she's not better or worse to me. She's not the best artist ever either, she's just there, and way better than katy perry, kesha or britney, at least she has a good videos, plays piano and writes, even if she's doing dance music.

just to play devil's advocate, Katy Perry plays guitar and writes...or atleast she did on her previous album. lol

but yea Gaga's career isn't over in any way... all she has to do is "reinvent" herself and the critics will love her again. we've seen this movie many times before. wink

I have no respect for a 20 something year old singing about kissing a girl and liking it,and singing you're so gay to appeal to ignorant people.

Yes, GaGa is really talented singer. I've always loved Stevie and Elton, I like when the singer plays the piano and sings. This is very impressive and exciting. I would not be embarrassed that GaGa freak if it does not harm her creativity. But the dresses have become more crazy and the music - is weaker. I think there is some regularity. I think she needs to focus on creativity

Today's generation wouldn't know journalism if it was discussed to them in literary class. neutral lol
