Cocked & Loaded vs. Wake Me When It's Over OK, these vs. threads are getting way out of hand but if everyone else is doing I can't resist jumping in the pool too. In the battle of the unfairly neglected '80s "hair" bands who wins, L.A. Guns or Faster Pussycat?

Wow now this one is interesting. I absolutely love both of these albums and bands fromthe 80s! Shit this one is tough but Imay overall say Cocked and Loaded is a lil stronger. I think both albums are great but the songs I can listen tojust about every track on Cocked and Loaded where as on Wake me, I find myself skipping more tracks. I just put both albums on my ipod this weekend too...
Sowhat do you think?? | |

I'm a pretty big Faster Pussycat fan so I gotta go with Wake Me When It's Over but I love both albums.
I thought it made for a good pairing. Both albums were released in 1989, they are both second albums and probably the commercial peaks for both artists. They even both featured a ballad as the hit single.

Have to go with Faster Pussycat. As a whole, it's a better album. Cocked & Loaded is pretty spotty! I'm more of a fan of L.A. Guns first album. Love both bands though. Whenever you say that you can't, that's when you need to be trying.

I basically narrowed it down based on how many songs I skip when I listen to them and as much as I love Faster Pussycat (my fave hair metal band) I had to give it to LA Guns because I skip less songs. This was seriously a tough one for me. I also love Hollywood Vampires by LA Guns and of course Faster Pussycat's debut album is classic and I even love Whipped!!

Wake Me When It's Over for sure. LA Guns i like them... but they where never quite up to full potential for me. The album has a lot of filler [Edited 8/16/11 20:37pm] Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Really? I actually thought Wake me had more filler but I seem to be in the minority on this one...

Wake Me has filler too. I just think Cocked has more throw-away songs. Love both of the bands, first LP's much more! Whenever you say that you can't, that's when you need to be trying.

Really? I agree that L.A. Guns is probably superior to Cocked & Loaded but Wake Me When It's Over destroys Faster Pussycat. Faster Pussycat sounds kind of underproduced and there's a fair bit of filler on the second side. With Wake Me When It's Over they basically took all the best bits from Faster Pussycat and did them better.

I agree that it's more polished and better produced than Faster Pussycat. Poison Ivy, Tattoo, and Slip Of The Tounge are superior to anything that's on their first cd. I guess I just like the rawness and innocence of their debut effort.
