I say Mozart cuz even Eminem name-checked him in "Stay Wide Awake". If he's cool to Em, he's cool to me. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

Being the difficult choice that it is, I have to go with Beethoven because one of my favorite pieces that I use to play on piano was Fur Elise. ^ I didn't want to post that, but it's true for me too, I love playing it in full and worked so hard at learning it as a kid.

I am not alone I played that song so much as a kid that I still have it memorized. "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

Me too, I regret not continuing piano alongside the singing and dancing, or I would have finished my levels by now and could have been teaching.

I took lessons for 10 years, quitting when I turned 18. I enjoyed playing as a hobby, but it became mandatory to go to yearly auditions where I had to go to some college campus and be judged by those in the music field. They told me I had a heavy foot when using the pedal, lol! It was no longer fun for me with all that pressure. I still play, I played for my kids from the time they began growing in the womb and up. One can play, two can dabble. I still play often because it is absolutely relaxing!!! "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. I also played for about 10 years. From 6 to 9, it was all basic piano and learning simple pieces. After that, I stopped for a year and would set what I learned to my keyboard and play it for guests, and after that, I took it again for about another 4 years. Nearly made it to Grade 3 piano but kept putting off the exam cause of schoolwork, long breaks and eventually quitting at about 16, and getting into singing lessons instead. Not a critical assessment of quality or skill, but I personally prefer Beethoven. Mozart feels a little stale and pat to me and his "top hits" drive me a little batty. For me there is more to discover in Beethoven, more mystery. His work is wild and rich, moody and thunderous...perhaps even more human, more in touch with the heart, and more compassionate. Beethoven remains one of those gifts life has given me, and for whose music my love increases over time.
