Love'em both, but "OTW" all day! [Edited 8/14/11 20:08pm] الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

I bought both around the same time, and I love Destiny way better, though OTW is also great and feel-good. I love the melodies, emotions in MJ's voice, vocals, lyrics, grooves, hooks etc.

Off the Wall. That's my favorite album by Mike. Good music makes me happy.

Off The Wall. Make it Triumph vs. Off The Wall, and we have a problem.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
^ that's a tough one too. I think Triumph sounds inspired by Destiny and OTW, and MJ himself said it in Moonwalk

Off The Wall by a mile and 2 hills lol Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Off the Wall, of course! "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

OT: I can't get over how middle aged Michael looks on that original OTW cover; like a 40 year old tap dancer.
This was a much, much better picture.

Lemme re-listen to Destiny and I can make an honest assessment.
Destiny - Off The Wall - Triumph - Thriller.... is Michael's 4 golden / classic albums IMHO. Just funky, carefree music that never gets old. The rest of his work doesn't compare or live up to that greatness.
Off The Wall is my favorite MJ album Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND Chaka Khan = FIRE Sade = WATER the ELEMENTS of MUSIC

Off The Wall
although 'Destiny' is a strong album,I gotta admit.

Much better picture, but that was taken around January 1980. Would've been a better album cover however.
Blame it on the Boogie vs Don't Stop Till U Get Enough Push Me Away vs Rock With U Things I Do For You vs Working Day and Night (Fuck it, I can't choose!) Shake Your Body vs Get on the Floor Destiny vs Off the Wall Bless His Soul vs Girlfriend All Night Dancing vs I Can't Help It That's What You Get vs I Can't Help It N/A vs It's The Falling in Love N/A vs Burn This Disco Out

I choose, "Off The Wall". To me, it was a more cohecive album. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Both great but for me it's easily Off The Wall. Nothing from Destiny comes close to the brilliance of Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough and that's all that's needed to seal the deal for me.
In fact few songs by anybody come close to the brilliance of DSTYGE.

Destiny is wonderful album
...But nothing beats Off The Wall Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

These albums are both great. The best records Michael made, in my opinion. Full of soulful, sweet melodies. That was before he began getting more and more "masculine" and aggresive... Although I also love what came after, Destiny and Off The Wall are the two peaks of his career.

PlayboyOriginal said: Destiny - Off The Wall - Triumph - Thriller.... is Michael's 4 golden / classic albums IMHO. Just funky, carefree music that never gets old. The rest of his work doesn't compare or live up to that greatness. I have to agree. Although there aren't too many people on MJ fan forums who seem to think that - his 1990s output seems to be his peak for most of them. Off The Wall for me... Destiny's great, although it feels like it's centred very much around Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground), and even that has a proto-OTW feel. I can't stand calling anything from OTW or Destiny 'filler' strictly speaking, but there's more stuff for me that's closer to that on Destiny than on OTW, IMO.

It's not just fan board people, it's real life people in my age group too, those who like MJ like him best from OTW through HIStory I find. I like how if I listen to 80's or 90's MJ too much, I can go back to the early epic years, or back to motown or solo motown so I don't get tired of him or see him as a one dimensional artist. His voice is so underrated cause he did different things with it for decades and different styles of music, but one has to hear all his stuff to really know of that IMO.

I definitely agree alphastreet! I never understood MJ fans who consider themselves to be solely MJ fans, but they aren't J-5 or Jacksons fans. Check me out and add me on:

yeah in the late 90's, I just had the 90's albums and though I loved them so much, then I was listening to MJ less and listening to others more and Janet more. The minute I decided to buy just one more MJ album, I got so hooked, and the more I kept doing that with an MJ or Jacksons album, or videotape, or VH1 tv special, I was going crazy and there was no time to just know one aspect of his art. I wanted more and there was plenty
