CURTIS MAYFIELD - another radio special tonight - listen online! I think that tonight's episode of my radio show Midnight Soulstice is of possible interest to some members of this forum. We'll do a two-hour tribute to Curtis Mayfield. Expect a selection of some of his finest tracks, including studio demos, album-outtakes, rare live recordings and some interview clips. This is gonna be powerful stuff!!
You can listen live tonight from 11pm until 1am Eastern Time on www.wrir.org I'll post the download of this show later this weekend.
Here an archived show, a tribute to Mayfield's Curtom Records, featuring some of the best music that Mayfield has written and/or produced for other artists:

Yea, one of my favorites too bro .. But on tonight's show, I'm gonna stick to his solo material. We're already working on a two-episode Impressions special with Fred Cash, Sam Gooden and Reggie Torrian live on air .. I'll keep you posted on that one.
Show starts in less than 30 minutes .. on the top of the hour at www.wrir.org

For those of you who enjoyed the Curtis Mayfield tribute show from two weeks ago .. I'll play another volume of Curtis Mayfield related material on tonight's Midnight Soulstice .. A Tribute to Curtom Records Vol. 2. You'll hear a selection of tunes written and/or produced by Curtis and released on his Curtom Records label or its subsidiaries Thomas, Gemigo, Mayfield Records, Windy C and Mad Tad.
You'll hear tunes by The Impressions, the Mayfield Singers, June Conquest, Donny Hathaway, The Five Stairsteps, Linda Clifford, the Jones Girls, the Natural Four, the Notations and many more .. and Leroy Hutson opened his vault exclusively for tonight's show and gave us a reel of unreleased material to play that he cut at Curtom Studios in Chicago in 1975. Never heard or played before!!
Tune in from 11pm until 1am Eastern on www.wrir.org

Curtis Mayfield = genius
There isn't one song of his that I do not like. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer.

It is painful for me, too. Leroy gave me a bunch of unreleased material, including stuff he produced for other artists. But he is very selective about what he lets me play on air. I would love to play it all. But the fact alone that I am the only one who he ever shared those recordings with makes me very appreciative.
The same with The Impressions .. they have given me some unreleased material to check out since I have been working with them, but again .. not allowed to air it. but in their case, there is a chnce we are actually gonna release it ...
We'll also do an Impressions special on the Soulstice soon, make sure to not miss that one, because the guys will tell their story on air ..
