I am truly saddened by this. I am abig fan of his and had the pleasure of meeting him at the Limelight in NY around 91? He was really cool. I know he struggled but I was hoping he would pull through. I hope he's at peace now....

Damn, I can't take any more deaths. sad

"Unce Tom's Cabin" is one of the greatest songs about police brutality ever made. It is a song and video made by, about, and starring white people - which is significant because police brutality in America has historically been seen as a minority issue only. Warrant put out that song and video at at time when this was an issue only being prominently addressed by (mostly) black hip-hop groups. You might say that it was the metal version of "Fuck Tha Police." The video concludes with a shootout between the police and those who witnessed the police murder. More to the point, it shows those who witnessed the police murder going AFTER the police with guns in an act of vigilante justice. This song was recorded PRIOR to the rebellion led by the people of Southern California in April 1992 who armed themselves and confronted the police in the streets. This was an uprising that saw heavy participation and support from all sections of Los Angeles - most definitely including Hollywood - where Warrant was formed. It should be noted that the Los Angeles rebellion of 1992 was a multi-racial affair - upwards of one thousand WHITE people were sent to jail for participation in that uprising.

It always pissed me off that certain people would try to clown Warrant as brainless, usually because of "Cherry Pie." Whatever.

Somewhere I have an old black and white photo of Jani Lane gripping the hand of Ice Cube from NWA in a recording studio in the early 90s.

That's how I remember him. The builder of a bridge between the hip-hop and metal audiences.

RIP Jani Lane.

I would love to see that picture too! Damn, I can't believe he's gone. Something needs to be done about these rockstars dying young from drugs. I'm sick of this.

It was fun to laugh at the hair bands during their era but they had an impact, like it or not. It's sad that he couldn't overcome his demons, GOD bless Jani Lane.

Wow, he looked REAL good there. Last time I saw him he had gained a lot of weight. Damn, cut in the prime of his life probably. I wonder if the death was just natural causes. Like his heart probably gave out at the end.
