EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A....

MADONNA, JANET, AND LADY GA GA, etc, etc etc. (OK THEY DO HAVE TALENT)

What happened to artists like Jody Mitchell? Oh - there are many out there.

People can't see them because it's a vicious circle of the over and over again Divas.

Don't have anything against dancers....but, please, bring back the MUSICIANS THAT SING, DANCE, PLAY AN INSTRUMENT, AND WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC.

GOD HELP US ALL!

True.

The Fiona Apples don't get as much attention and press as the Gagas.

Actually I have to correct this because I just re-read and really saw the last bit of what you said - actually Gaga plays piano, writes her own shit, so on and so forth.

But if you mean strictly that you'd love to see a resurgence of female artists who aren't dance artists or belting pop divas a la Celine Dion, then I hear you. I agree.

Gaga, Madonna and Janet all write most of their material. All have strong non dance songs in their catalogue.

If you are looking for Jodi Mitchell types, there are plenty of them. You just have to look!

Hey - thanks for responding, and I'm glad u hear me!

Lady Gaga is a beautiful girl, dancer, and yes she writes her own music and plays the piano. I'm talking about more of a unique artistry that is out there, and is not heard by the masses. The sad thing is that people can't relate to it as much anymore. Interesting you said Fiona Apple, she is a good example of a unique artist.

When I was younger, you saw bands on stage, never a dancer in site. I love to dance, I don't have a problem with dancing. However, true artistry, and real musicians are being cast aside. Real musicians are not earning the credit they deserve on stage. They are just a background that people can't see and don't appreciate. PLUS - they are being taken over by computerized tech!

Country music still is an example of a band on stage that has skills. Watching the pop music awards these days does not give credit to the musicians, only the staging, and sort of circus like mentality is what people have been conditioned to see and expect.

Prince, is a master, and he is brilliant. He includes not only real musicians, but knows he has to include dancers, backup artists, and it makes spectacular results!

Being a HUGE PRINCE FAN, I appreciate this, and understand. But still, my heart goes out to many who really don't want to go this route, so therefore, they don't get recognition. It is a matter of pride, and I understand this, and very much respect artists decisions. There are many that just don't want to do the American Idol thing, there are those that are very proud. Now that is REALLY a true artist!

Peace and Luv!
