Sorry, but

is not better than

That isnt a good comparision.

The correct comparision would be All 4 U vs. Invincible and I think you probably didnt do that because Invincible of course is the better album lol

How could you possible compare one of Janets best work with Michaels weakest?

I'll take Break of Dawn, Butterflies, Whatever Happens off Invincible over some tracks on Velvet Rope

Love Janet but she doesnt touch Michaels OVERALL music catalogue. Ive notice Janets 4 other albums(All 4 U, Discipline, Damita Jo, 20.Y.O and her two early albums) NEVER get brought up here for debating.. I wonder why lol lol

Janets catalogue which only consist of 4 solid good albums doesnt touch Michaels overall music catalogue... BUT if that is your preference then okay

... With this debate obviously people like Janets Control album more than BAD so what you tripping for?

lol The reason I compared those two is because the poster said everything MJ has put out is better than anything Janet has put out. It's really just all subjective.

Hmm, I find it hard to believe that anyone would claim that Michael's Motown era solo albums are better than Janet's run from Control-The Velvet Rope. It is probably not a fair comparison but those are albums with Michael's name on them.

It was apparently completed in 1988 even though Quincy gives that story on the Special Edition. Found this out recently in the MJ thread. And Bad is perfect as it is.

How can it be completed in 1988?? What do you mean?

I think she was referring to the song "Streetwalker". My favorite MJ song smile

I find "Bad" to be disingenuous, and diminished by trying to live up to "Thriller's" brilliance. There were some great moments on it. "Off The Wall" is Genius to me, start to finish - ain't no question.

"Control" is rich and fine and reflects an interior life that is compelling and universal. "Control" and "RN1814" represent the best intentions for music and what it offers up in reflection of the human experience. Perhaps a different MJ album could be compared to "Control" to better results.

I am actually a little freaked out that "Bad" is held in such high regard. I will revisit it this weekend.

My bad! Very sorry. I had forgotten about some of the great songs from this album, The Way You Make Me Feel, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Smooth Criminal, Man In the Mirror... There is something really Grand in all of these.

"Bad", by a long shot. Michael wrote the LYRICS and MELODY to basically every song on that album, as well as arranging, producing, etc:

Bad

The Way You Make Me Feel

Dirty Diana

Liberian Girl

Speed Demon

I Just Can't Stop Lovin' You

Smooth Criminal

Another Part of Me

Leave Me Alone

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote EVERY note and LYRIC on Control. Janet contributed her life story to them and it was THEM who took control and wrote the album. Of course, Janet added her touch with the iconic videos and performances.

For me, there is no contest, BAD wins hands down!

Why is that a criteria? A good song is a good song, dont matter who wrote or produced it.

So you also think even the wackest album by Prince is better than MJ's best?

Janet seems a lot more popular on the org than MJ. Her albums always seem to get more votes than her brothers on these MJ vs. JJ threads.

Fuck knows why, all of Michael's studio albums are superior to anything Janet's put out.

i dont know, I only like Control and RN as albums and sound, but i dont really like her voice. I cant imagine people thinking or sayin JJ is a better artist.
