Bad. I must be the onely one, but I really enjoy the dated 80s sound on it. Plus I prefer Rhythm Nation Nation, Janet and The Velvet Rope over Control.

Easy. BAD!! Man In The Mirror is one of the best songs ever of 20th century for me.

I hope Streetwalker was included in BAD instead of Speed Demon though.

More Jackson threads!? How many do we need. Threre are 5 on the front page alone without the MJ sticky.

I'd say about 6 or 7. If we had more than 7 it would be annoying because then we'd have 8 jackson threads cool That's creepy.

I want to marry the Bad album....

falloff

I think Michael was one of the most beautiful humans in show biz, male or female, during the Bad Tour..

Watching the Live video of Another Part Of Me was one of my first memories of being attracted to someone of the same sex. And I don't usually dig guys who wear make up or over the top clothing lol

he oozes sex in both versions of the video...every time I see it, before and after the death, I got so emotional and filled with hype. And I LOVE that outfit and his curls and voice and energy. The song is one of his best ever. I even have the extended mix on my Leave Me Alone visionary single.

I hate calling the 80's dated though I know what you mean, I'm actually an 80's lover, so it doesn't bother me. The songs themselves are classics and them being released in other years with different keyboards or instruments would have worked too. And yeah I feel that way about those 3 Janet albums too though Control is also special, it just didn't hit me like the other 3 except for a few videos and then album tracks when I got it. And I find myself playing Dream Street and her debut album tracks more than Control

Janet seems a lot more popular on the org than MJ. Her albums always seem to get more votes than her brothers on these MJ vs. JJ threads.

Fuck knows why, all of Michael's studio albums are superior to anything Janet's put out.

I know!!!!! but then at the same time MOST folks here dont even consider Janet to be a legend or take her seriously lol I think they do it purposely just because she is the underdog and to start arguements...

BAD wins this hands down...

with songs like Man in the Mirror, Liberian Girl, Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal, Leave Me Alone, The Way You Make Me Feel... Control doesnt even compete....

I see more people liking MJ, but it makes sense that they like Janet because of The Time/Minneapolis association/sound

Good Points... I love Janet and most of the albums that have been compared so far have been her best works but all these arguements insisting they are MUCH better than Michaels confused confused confused

I guess it is fun talk but realistically speaking half this stuff would only be said here and no place else maybe on a Janet Jackson board... people hating on Michael... if anytime someone will choose Control over Bad ... what the hell? neutral I like Control to.. but c'mon neutral

That's just preference, and Control was after all the closest to Janet doing "a Prince album" so I understand where it's coming from on a Prince board, and it was a classic moment for her to break out of the shadow of her family, and it inspired other similar acts like Jody Watley who also worked with The Time members when going solo, Karyn White who worked with and married Terry Lewis and worked with Babyface and all with a similar image to hers, and Pebbles, who said herself in an interview Janet paved the way.

MJ did amazing things with Bad as well, but he was already an established legend who was continuing to do his thing and amaze fans and audiences with his videos and tours, and continuing to be a global phenomenon as he already was and attracting new fans, but Janet came as a surprise from being the girl next door to Miss Jackson If You Nasty...but of course I prefer Bad

That doesnt necessarily make Control better because that broke her through mainstream.Once again not knocking the album it just doesnt touch the flawless BAD... I think some people here prefer Janets early records because of that sound to I also think its because they just dont want to admit Michael had the better album because its Michael Jackson lol

I don't think it's cause it's MJ they are doing that, I think it's cause Janet simply amazed and MJ was very hard for any artist to compete with, but his own sister did it, and she did it great. Not Latoya, but Janet. And it's judging by music tastes on this board overall with liking Prince and other funk acts and dance music, the sound on Control matched that almost. MJ is in a category of his own and some like him, some don't, though I don't know either how they don't lol

It was apparently completed in 1988 even though Quincy gives that story on the Special Edition. Found this out recently in the MJ thread. And Bad is perfect as it is.

Bad is my favorite MJ album right next to HIStory. Control is not my favorite Janet Jackson album even though I appreciate what it did for r&b.

A tough decision. They are both classic examples of the perfect marriage of pop and R&B. Check out the"Control" mixtape created by London DJ 100 Akres. The beats are sick...

Gotta go with Control.

The beats and production on Control was fresher even though its one year older than Bad.

Bad sounded a bit dated when it came out.

Bad sure got some classics though. Liberian Girl is simply beautiful.

Worst song on it is Bad, i didnt get that, it sounded childish and cheesy. I could understand Prince didnt like it.

Control came with a new fresh sound and took the MPLS sound a step further. The beats on Nasty, Pleasure Principle, What have you done are simply amazing and funky!

Although JJ aint a good singer her voice fits on these tracks.

Off The Wall.

Fair point. I guess that "Girlfriend" is the only blemish.

OTW is my favorite MJ album; followed by Bad, Invincible, and History. I love, love, love "Girlfriend". It's one of the songs on OTW that I put on repeat and sing along to when going on long drives. boxed

But to stay on topic, I choose Bad, although Control is my favorite Janet album.

MJ was on fire during Bad era. even though it's not my fave album, those singles and videos were great. there is some variety to Bad, which I can appreciate.

I have to give it to Control; it's a much stronger album overall IMO. I am more of a fan of the production and sound of Control.

Almost a tie; but Control beats Bad by a brittle hair. It must be said, though, that the best of Bad is better than the best of Control; however, Control is more consistantly good overall.

Sorry, but

is not better than

That isnt a good comparision.

The correct comparision would be All 4 U vs. Invincible and I think you probably didnt do that because Invincible of course is the better album lol

How could you possible compare one of Janets best work with Michaels weakest?

I'll take Break of Dawn, Butterflies, Whatever Happens off Invincible over some tracks on Velvet Rope

Love Janet but she doesnt touch Michaels OVERALL music catalogue. Ive notice Janets 4 other albums(All 4 U, Discipline, Damita Jo, 20.Y.O and her two early albums) NEVER get brought up here for debating.. I wonder why lol lol

Janets catalogue which only consist of 4 solid good albums doesnt touch Michaels overall music catalogue... BUT if that is your preference then okay

... With this debate obviously people like Janets Control album more than BAD so what you tripping for?
