That's my first time hearing it, maybe they were going to call it Scandal and get Joseph mad....he didn't want her sounding like Prince, so she wanted to 'act' like Prince with The Time lol

Yea! The movie idea came from the long version short film reworked live version of Control. That Janet did with The Time. I kind of wish it would have happened. It seemed like a good idea. But I almost felt like Janet was kind of replacing an urban Prince at this time. Just seem like she was being inserted into a female member of The Time. That "Scandal" project would have been just that & the lyrics to "U need me" was a sad story of Joe.

Janet has worked with all of the members except Morris. There might be a distant connection in that Morris remade Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me. razz

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'll never forget when Rhythm Nation dropped. cool I wanted to be Janet lol I memorized choreography all day, everyday. She is what inspired me to be a dancer (when I was young that is). At my age now I stick strictly to the two step, with an occasional shake lol!

In 1991 MJ wanted to follow a trend which was almost over, the more smooth and slower RnB/NSJ was becoming the new trend like SWV, Jodeci, MJBlige etc.

He alwauys did that save for HIStory. In fact that was the big point of Off The Wall's significance. It was 'post disco.'

One thing both albums suffer for is overdrawn intros and interludes neutral

I don't mind if it's still music or supposed to be significant to the art. At the end of day, it's just like Janet just talking way too fucking much or some other nonsense that's not necessary. I don't mind it for like a song or two, but jesus christ? Do you really need it before and after every song?!

I do agree about MJ's intros and outros being a little too long on Dangerous. I really hate the fact that You Rock My World is plagued by that outro. It's funny, but just start the song already...

Also: Keep The Faith is a shitty song. Choosing it over Heal The World is akin to choosing dog food over a steak imo.
