N the movie Beautiful Thing itself is right up proper and worth a viewing. I happy ending for the gays in the mid 90's was pretty much unheard of. The soundtrack is just icing on the cake.

I just watched "Parting Glances" and "Longtime Companion" for the first time a couple weeks ago. Some of the best movies I'd seen in a while, especially "Longtime Companion".

Yeah but whatwas nice bout BT is that its a happy ending. Which was much needed in gay movies in the 90's.

Yeah, but to be fair all the movies that didn't have happy endings were understandable considering what was going on at the time, with AIDS completely decimating the community. Art reflects life. Fortunately right around the early 90s is when things first started getting a little better which is movies that ended on a positive note started appearing with more frequency.

True but historically gays usually killed off in movies, then in the 80s there was more gay deaths. It just got to such a downer. N Im one of those types that if Im paying money I don't want to leave a theatre gutwrenched.

I like my fluff. smile

lol Yeah, like why would anyone like downer movies. I would think for people looking for something to uplift them. Movies with happy endings often do it. wink

Like I said if I wanted a bad ending, I'd look at a biopic or a horror film. Or even those movies that are dark all the way anyways.
