Singer Gavin DeGraw was brutally assaulted in New York City on Sunday night (August 7).

The 34-year-old South Fallsburg, N.Y. singer, was scheduled to appear in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Tuesday night, while on tour with Train and Maroon 5, but was reportedly beaten by a group of assailants, late on Sunday night.

DeGraw currently resides in New York City, and had only been home for a matter of hours, after performing at Foxwoods' MGM Grand Theater in Connecticut earlier in the evening. A spokesperson for the 'I Don't Want to Be' singer informed TMZ that DeGraw has been admitted to Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital, where he is currently still under observation, but the severity of his injuries has not yet been revealed.

DeGraw had been touring in support of his upcoming fourth album 'Sweeter,' which is scheduled for a September 20 release.

Gavin DeGraw has been hospitalised after being attacked by a group of men in New York.

Police say that the 34-year-old singer suffered a broken nose and cuts to his face after he was beaten by 'unknown attackers' early on Sunday morning after a night out with friends reports the Daily Mail.

According to TMZ, DeGraw was 'outnumbered by several people' during the attack.

The New York Daily News are reporting that the Degraw was then hit by a cab after the attack, although was not seriously injured in the accident.

A representative for the star said he is still under observation in Bellevue Hospital tonight after being taken there by ambulance.

He is said to be in 'stable condition'

The cause of the attack, which occurred in the city's East Village, is unknown. A representative for the 34-year-old DeGraw issued a statement saying, "Gavin DeGraw was assaulted late Sunday night and taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation."

The singer most famous for his song "I Don't Want To Be" selected as the theme song for drama "One Tree Hill", has been forced to cancel upcoming concert on Tuesday night in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Thank God he's okay. No one deserves to be whipped like that.

That freaking sucks! The craven bastards! I'm glad it wasn't worse though and that Gavin will recover.

So sorry to read about him getting attacked then getting hit by a taxi. Makes me think was he hanging out alone? I hope there was somebody with him. Those dudes who did that most likely looknig for trouble.

I read about this this morning and was pisssssed. Gavin is an amazing musician and vocalist and they broke his nose! That's messed up. Singing with a broken nose is next to impossible. He's currently touring with Train and Maroon 5, so this may mean that some shows get cancelled. Not cool. I hope they catch these assholes.
