I had "Rio" for awhile but I never listened to most of the album until last week. I was watching VH1 Classic and they aired the episode of "Classic Albums" and I immediately dug it out. My current iPod is only 8gb so I have to get a 32gb one because I need to put the whole LP and the debut album, Seven And The Ragged Tiger, and Notorious on it

I spent Saturday night reading about the group's history.... it was a break from a MJ research lol

Umm....Chico, DID YOU GET THOSE WHAM! SONGS I SENT YOU?! mad

A perfect song from a perfect album!

Do yourself a favor and make sure you get the version from the recent 2-disc rerelease. It isn't chopped to bits like the other album versions or that horrific edit on Greatest.

Can't believe you just got into Rio! That album is flawless. I love how they shot a video for almost every track. "Lonely in Your Nightmare" mushy

Don't forget "The Wild Boys" and "A View to a Kill" that fit in before Notorious. I'd also strongly recommend their latest album, All You Need Is Now. For a lot of fans, it's their strongest work since Rio.

Believe me, I'm ashamed of it lol

I liked the self titled album and I liked some songs from Rio but never gave the full album a full listen, but I'm glad I have now

Marvin as in Marvin Gaye? Interesting.

Finally got Rio but didn't feel as if I'd missed much as I was quite familiar with the singles, the BEST tracks. Save a Prayer is still great. I LIKE the version on Greatest.

Well, of course you do. Anyone who doesn't see what's so great about songs like "New Religion" and "The Chauffeur" probably isn't going to agree on much with me. lol

I still maintain Rio is absolutely perfect. The 4 singles are all top-notch and the 5 album tracks could've easily been singles. music

(Thinking about it, I do agree that the singles are probably the best tracks. "Save a Prayer" and "My Own Way" are definitely my favorites, but I'd probably put both "Rio" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" ever so slightly ahead of "Lonely in Your Nightmare.")

Better late than never. One of the very best pop records of the '80s bar none. The debut is excellent as well. nod

It always seemed to me that Black American musicians/artists were more appreciated in England than they were in the U.S. shrug

That song is definitely a fan favorite especially live. This last leg of the North American tour, it wasn't played for the first time in years. I think they've replaced it with "Ordinary World," which is also a great song. It'll probably return in the future. It's cool hearing folks discovering or rediscovering D2 music. I wore out my Rio tape back then, and it's probably top 1 or 2 all time favorite releases. From beginning to end it sounds complete.
