Hey Kool Thing! Sonic Youth I just think this song is so brilliant. Released in 1990 the same year Ice Ice Baby became one of the first rap songs to hit #1 Kool thing is about the tension between feminism and Gangster Rap. No other criticism of Hip Hop in the media ever was this cool, smart or sexy. Besides it's history and connection to Kim Gordan's lampooning of LL Cool J, it's a total jam!

Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth did an interview with him for Spin in the late 80s, and it just went in a weird direction, because she's a feminist, and he's an alpha male type, but a song came out of it. No idea if LL and Chuck D ever talked about the song.
