Freddie Mercury Best Male Vocalist Ever? To me, he's the greatest to ever do it. "Bohemien Rhapsody" is just mind blowing.
"Cool Cat" is a perfect example of what he's about. Take a listen.
He's a better vocalist than Michael Jackson, Prince etc...

I think he's definitely one of the best of all-time. I've always thought he had an absolutely gorgeous voice.
That being said, who comes in first is ultimately subjective and up for debate. Right now if I had a gun to my head and was forced to give an answer, I'd say George Michael. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

I certainly wont argue with you here. You could make a strong case for why he's the greatest. He's not my ultimate favorite male vocalist (That would actually be MJ) but he is one of the greatest for sure. Freddie was an amazing vocalist. Absolutely incredible. I am always in awe of his voice when I listen to Queen records.
Steve Perry is one of the few that can probably give Freddie a run for his money though. That man can sing his ass off! Damn. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Since the beginning of time, there have been thousands, maybe millions of singers. So unless you've heard them all, how can you determine who is "best"? Maybe you should say Freddie is your favorite singer instead. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

He's the best singer ever to me.

No Sam Cooke, then no Steve Perry & Rod Stewart. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. No such thing as "best" ever. Just a matter of taste.

Nah, he's the greatest.

I'm done trying to label greatests and bests. It's all really subjective.

Sam Cooke certainly did come to mind, but I thought Steve was more comparable to Freddie than Sam. Sam is certainly one of the greatest of all time.
As someone else said though, this is subjective. You can't say anyone is really the greatest anything. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

By? Huh? Or do you mean bye?

Right. I prefer Marvin but I wouldn't argue with those who don't think he's the greatest. No biggie.

Perry's voice is powerful as fuck, but it's not always all that pretty to listen to. Mercury's voice was prettier and still managed to be really strong at the same time. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

But Freddie was a genius though.

At the end of the day, u can't qualify who is the best. Even in sports with stats is is still subjective.

Right lol | |

I was gonna argue that in sports you can, but really then it depends on if you're talking strictly about the number of wins, or about the artistic element/style.

How can you rate somebody over someone else you've never heard and say they're the best ever? I can't say Lassie, Benji, or Rin Tin Tin are the best dogs ever, because I've never seen every dog in existence. I said the same thing in your other "best ever" thread.... Not everyone likes the same things. That's what subjective means. YOU may think he's the greatest, but someone else doesn't feel the same way.
**And for future reference: If you ask a question and someone doesn't agree, you shouldn't argue. You asked. Don't ask if you don't want honest responses. Or... we could all just say "Yes" to everything you ask. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I just hate when people try to force your opinion down someone's mouth and then act like that's not what he or she is doing. It's like you create threads for people to talk in so if someone gives you an answer you don't like, either just ignore it or move on. No need to even be arguing about.

The question was meant for me to find out your favorite singers.
I asked if Freddie was the best to see if anyone agreed with me, and for those who disagreed, I wanted to know who were your favorite singer. That's why I said "to me he's the best".

It's kinda like, and I hate to use comparisons like this, a politician saying "what I say goes and if you don't like it, fuck you". Remind me of some of the things that are talked about on TUMBLR that if you don't "reblog something" then you don't have a heart or some shit.
BULLSHIT. | |
