Organ is the one instrument I'd rather hear in a minimalist setting as opposed to a full produced setting. Hell, in this case I don't think it will need production given that Miss Ella's voice can provide more than a production.

That's part of the beauty of the instrument. It can cover so much emotional ground by itself.

Probably, why the organ trios were so successful. All you need is a drummer and guitar just for a different color.

Music for adventurous listeners

Wow, what the hell did you just lay on me, Ms.Trina?

mushy

Going through Sassy's music is like peeling an onion without the smell. Everytime I thought I got her stuff covered, I wind up with things I was unaware of.

Sarah Sings Soufully.... I know you've been trying to digest in all, just take your time. biggrin

This is one of Ms. Vaughan's best albums; you get to hear a lil' gospel tone coming from Vaughan. She and Washington were begged to record a Gospel album but both declined. As my grandmother said, they chose the other side, thank you Jesus"! lol

Everytime I've thought I've heard everything Sarah put to vinyl, she can still make my jaw drop. Sometime in the early/mid 50's Vaughan sung, "On Green Dolphin Street" live on the radio with her trio... disbelief

I've uploaded..... one of my favorites by Smith. My brother calls this song a slow burn....

I'm a BIG fan of Shirley Scott's too.
