Gap Band - "I Owe It to Myself" [1986]

Big Break Records recently released their deluxe edition of Gap Band 8, which includes 4 12" mixes as bonus tracks. This is probably my favorite track on the album. Any other fans?

I have this album. I don't think the group had anything to do with it. It was put together from unreleased leftover tracks by Lonnie Simmons. The picture on the back is obviously from the same photo shoot as the photos used on Gap 7. lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

nod

Charlie Wilson stated that Gap 7 was the last album they recorded on Lonnie

Simmons label Total Experience before moving to Capitol Records which was short

lived thanks to Lonnie. My favorite tracks on the album were I Can Live Without

Your Love and Zibble Zibble(Get the Money) aka Get Funky, Get Loose.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Drop top, clear skies, light traffic, baby girl and this playin would almost do.

Its tue about this being an outtake of sorts and its all the better for it.

Sometimes songs are just too polished.

Nice one.
