I think the most appropriate answer to the question is a big, resounding...

Her body of work and dance has influenced many a generation of female pop singers, all of whom borrow and steal from her. Even brother Michael raves about the awesomeness that is Rhythm Nation 1814.

Boom! Done deal.

Also, I'ma pull a Timmy84 and say..."as long as people forever say "Miss Jackson, if ya nasty", she will forever be remembered."

Every single one of these albums came in the wake of "Control". Every one of them. Before "Control", the pop music industry was devoid of dance/pop females of color who danced.

Do you have a source for this? Like actual documentation that can back this up? Not being funny or doubting you, I just would like to know where is this info is documented at.

Just being a music lover and observer over the years, and reading various books and articles. Also, growing up in the '80s, I vividly remember when Janet hit the scene. Before her, Pat Benatar was performing elaborate choreography in her "Love is a Battlefield" video, but there were no women of color doing it until "Control". A book called The New Rolling Stone Album Guide pointedly states that performers such as Paula Abdul and Karyn White were immediately identified for their Janet-like images.

Taken from the following link: Three years after "Control" was released, the New York Times suggested that it was "responsible for the careers of Jody Watley, Paula Abdul and Neneh Cherry. Other acts influenced by the 'Control' album include Pebbles, Sharon Byrant, Vanessa Williams and Karyn White."

I'm not going to lie, I love early Alanis, check out Feel Your Love lol

but I hope the Courtney Love lipstick inspiration was sarcastic, I enjoyed the rest and have seen them before

Though I want to like Britney, she has a terrible voice and it makes me really, really sad that she copies so much of Janet and gets credit and sells more just cause of being white. There, I said it. I never understood Madonna comparisons at all when she came out, I saw Janet all over her too in poses and dance moves and so on.

Me too. Feel Your Love, Too Hot, An Emotion Away...they're all good pop tunes. I'm glad she hasn't completely turned her back on that period in her career.

And the Real World, beating up that dummy

eek Something traumatic had to have occurred for someone who was once a so-called fan to turn to such obsessive virulent hate. Very bad vibes, for sure! disbelief

Definately! I think Janet's bodyguard Joey must've given him/her the smackdown at some point. lol

that person wasnt no janet fan dont you know by now that the internet janet haters always say the same thing..'i use to be a huge fan', that dont even make sense to me, why would you turn on an artist you was a big fan of simply because they are no longer big commercial successes? if thats the case i wouldnt like nobody because all my favorites are oldies and havent made new music in over a decade or more. far as the thread question goes, janet and the entire jackson family are legends.how can somebody use to be a legend but is no longer one? once you reach that status you dont lose it and janet reached it a long time ago.

I'd venture to say that it's the best video by a female pop star, of all time. Period.

What is it about the Jacksons that make folks go so batshit???

I've never gotten why the claws come out so hard when folks mention someone that happens to have that last name. Be it positively or negatively.

Right, and a baiter. I've seen her go into a thread and just egg people on with no other reason other than just to start something up.

I thought Trueopian was a fan of Janet. Why is she considered a troll/baiter because she may have had a change of heart in her fandom? Seriously, I really didn't see anything vile, disrepectful, or vicious in her discussion as to why she is no longer enchanted with Janet.

She said that she didn't consider Janet a legend and gave her reasons why she felt like that. Is that troll behavior. LOL, I have seen MUCH,MUCH worse in some of the threads that I have entered. Again, Just wondering.

Britney has always publically said that Michael was a HUGE influence on her. I wonder if that will ALSO be a part of the tribute to her. I usually skip ANYTHING on MTV; however, this year I may just have to watch to see what she does.

Uh, have you seen what Tru was like? This was not her first ban, she had just come back from her last and she was purposefully making inflammatory remarks in order to get people mad. That's how this thread got to 11 pages.
