I prefer New Edition because they had better manly voices than J5. Michael's kid voice irks the hell outta me but the others had great harmony behind him. New Edition had 3 great voices and 3 back up singers who could hold it down. New Edition is also the only group besides the Beatles to have spinned off successful solo careers.
Poor Jermaine though his one hit givin to him by Stevie Wonder is ACE!!! I think Jermaine was probably my favorite since he didn't use the chipmunk efffect on his voice and held his own against the magnificent Whitney on their duets.
Never heard either album to really comment on that.
"Let's Get Serious" is his biggest hit (and it's fantastic), but to say he just had one hit is crazy. "Daddy's Home"? "Don't Take It Personal"? "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy"? "Dynamite"? You sure you didn't miss the '70s as well as the '80s?
chile don't nobody know those other songs LMFAO.... I only know the first 2 and I like them. I'm not a fan of the Jacksons so I know as much as any regular person who wasn't apart of the fanclub Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

Is there another version of New Edition that I don't know about?
I enjoy Bobby and Ralph but Johnny was my favorite. Mr. Telephone Man sounds more manly than Michael whining his way through Ben.
Yall getting too technical.... I was talking overall cuz I have zero desire to listen to either album. Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

If you didn't know who Genesis are (who've been around since 1969 and one of the most popular bands ever), how can you know about Jermaine? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton |

What's technical? The OP asks which album you like better, not which group is better. If you've never heard them, you can't answer the question. Mr. Telephone Man is not on the Candy Girl record and Ben is not on the Presents LP. Is This The End? and Jealous Girl are "I'll Be There" and "I Found That Girl" with different names.
Popcorn Love sounds like an "I Want You Back" and "The Love You Save" had a love child.
Candy Girl is an "ABC" rip-off.
With that said, I listen to both albums, but I listen to the J5 album more.
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner here and it didn't take a full page

I know of the Jacksons.... I didn't study and memorize their every hit, setlist, tracklisting, baby mama and magazine cover like you did. Sue me. Everybody knows Jermaine as the greasy one always tryna get a J5 reunion. Genesis isn't that popular in black households and I never heard of them ever in Jersey City.
Even when I study 70's music, I've never ran across their name. Elton John, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, YES! But Genesis, nope.

I posted my thoughts on which group was better. I stated in my initial response that I never heard either album and can't give an opinion on it. If you are gonna harass my every post that doesn't celebrate your love for old ass music then PLEASE quote me correctly when addressing me otherwise BACK OFF Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

Eh..that album is kinda dreary and lame though. I gotta admit..I always thought I Want You Back just feels out of place on a dry album like that..lots of more adult oriented music...then random bubble gum pop thrown in for a hit... Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records. |

Like most Motown albums in the '60s right? |
