Now while it was a nice album in my opinion...there were too many covers to make it stand hard on it's own. Especially trying to cover Temptations classic Born To Love You (which I am impressed by Michaels lower register at his age...). My Cherie Amour is nice...not as nice as Stevies and Can You Remember is better than the Delfonics version.

This album is very bubblegum and full of early 80's electronic flair..not only that but it captures their vocal elements very well setting them apart from other 80's kid acts to come from them. Is This The End and Jealous Girl are still timeless classics. I dont even have to say more about the highlighted funk-pop on the rest of the jams. Pass The Beat is alright even...Ooh Baby..meh..dont even remember what that one sounds like to be frank.

Why all these versus threads? It sucks. AND it's not even a fair fight because J5 came first and basically paved the way for New Edition.

Why not just enjoy each group and their for what they were?

It's only matter of opinion...doesnt mean that anyone's album is 'better or greater' just a healthy evaluation.

I put on facebook that I like New Editions songs more than Jackson 5 songs..and my brother strongly disagreed with me....

For most of my years I was a fan of adult Michael. Just recently I discovered The Jacksons and now I'm looking into The Jackson Five. I just wasn't interested, besides a few songs.

And smoothcriminal is from Bad. It's not like I called myself "I Want Your Back" or "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah."

Most Motown albums of the 1960's contained a lot of remakes. The Supremes even had entire albums of Sam Cooke and Beatles songs. Even songs that were written by Motown staff writers were recorded on multiple groups.

Granted, the title track for Candy Girl is a well-known excellent rip-off of I Want You Back.

But in terms of best album overall, my (controversial) vote goes to New Edition's Candy Girl album because most of those tracks were potential r&b/soul hits. Bubblegum funk is pretty good!

Some filler on both albums. The main difference for me is that the J5 had 2 excellent songs ("Who's Loving You" and "I Want You Back") while NE just had 1 ("Popcorn Love"). I prefer both groups' second albums.

Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5 clearly wins this battle. I mean cuts like "Do You Remember?", "I Want You Back", "Nobody" and "Who's Loving You" edges out everything New Edition has ever done. It's also one of the most profound debuts in pop history as well, so...yeah Jacksons win hands down. No contest!

Is This The End? and Jealous Girl are "I'll Be There" and "I Found That Girl" with different names.

Popcorn Love sounds like an "I Want You Back" and "The Love You Save" had a love child.

Candy Girl is an "ABC" rip-off.

With that said, I listen to both albums, but I listen to the J5 album more.

I know..its just...even at a kid I knew those songs before I knew what Bad was. I guess my upbringing with Jackson 5 was fluent in our family. Guess we just followed on opposite schedueles.

I see you guys' opinions. Do you think their second albums really stand up to the test of time on eachother? New Edition vs. ABC?

Both NE and J5's second records were better than ther first effort. Which was better, still gotta go with the J5.

And am I the only one who doesn't listen to "Under The Blue Moon"? It's the only NE album aside from One Love that I haven't fully listened to

"Blue Moon" is actually not bad, never even listed to One Love besides that single Hot 2Nite. I agree, All For Love is their best album as youngins.

All For Love and Heartbreak are their best albums. They should've just stayed together and made another album before splitting to do solo projects. Breaking apart in '90 did more damage than they thought

Home Again is probably my third favorite. When it comes to the side projects/solo albums, I'd say my favorite is BBD's first album, followed by Don't Be Cruel. I'm getting in Johnny's albums, I've only heard 2 of Ralph's (nothing to call home about), and I never heard Ricky's solo joint

Yeah, I have the Johnny Gill '83 and Chemistry. Both solid sets. Half Crazy is a classic IMO
