Remember, though, that Born This Way is still selling and is still in the top 20, and that it has already sold 5 million (!) since June. I doubt that it will reach the amount of sales that The Fame did, however.

Shipments are at 5 million.

Ah...a little bit more research says that sales are only at 3 million.

She's around 1.5 million in the U.S., it shipped two million copies here.

She doesn't seem to have great longevity at the number one spot. She was on for two weeks and then she just fell off. I think this album will fall fast if she doesn't do something.

No..MJ's solo albums...he peaked at his second.
Madonna peaked a couple of times..second album...greatest hits album....in the 90's....and the 2000's....
50 Cent peaked out on second album
Eminem peaked on second album
Temptations peaked on the second album too and couple after that
Jackson 5 peaked on ABC
Janet peaked on her third only 4 years in the game..and peaked on the album after that.
I actually like Born This Way alot more than The Fame and Monster. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

And I'm talking about long-term career investment. Gaga might have to potential of lasting longer than most artists of her generation.

And their careers went on also. So what makes anyone think if Gaga "peaked" that she'll be over? That's not accurate. [Edited 8/7/11 15:13pm]

Gaga will be fine as time goes on she probably won’t be the Main Attraction every year but will most likely still put out albums and have a strong fan base I look forward to her future projects.

As long as she puts on a good live performance, she'll be fine. I'm not sure she'll be able to sell a million in a week again so in that sense, yes she may have peaked because the hype and media focus was crazy but that's operating at a level very few artists ever achieve.

sales and albums shipped is an overrated statistic to me... yea its cool that millions of albums are moved but shit... william hung sold albums. i don't think they can be used to measure an artist's future longevity.

Very few albums spend more than a week on the top spot these days, it seems to me that albums either stay up there (Adele, Taylor Swift) or fall fast (Britney, Katy). 2012: The Queen Returns
