Ne-Yo Plans Mixtape [img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/dA4os.jpg[/img:$uid]

Ne-Yo is one hard-working man. From the big screen to the studio the new father is working on his fifth album, starring in the upcoming Hollywood movie Red Tails, and has just announced plans to release a mixtape preceding the new album.
Sounds like the self proclaimed gentlemen has caught the musicbug again. We all know he has enough leaked material for at least 5 mixtapes, “101″ may just be the beginning.

I wish he'd plan his retirement, instead.

I take it you didn't buy his last album Libra Scale? There were a couple of songs on it that I found hit worthy and catchy.

I like Neyo but the problem is he comes out with too many albums. If he came out with one album every 3-4 years, his material would be much stronger. Instead you get a few good songs and a lot of filler.

Think it is a good idea artists are putting these out instead of bootleg random mp3s that come out...demos..their unfinished ideas..it also gives them reign to breathe artistically.
I dont really like Neyo that much..a couple songs here n there but I'm glad he is doing it. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

His music is too bland for me and all his songs sound alike. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

Exactly he's underwhelming. His voice makes me Like a cross between Usha and Chris Brown. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't givva fuck what anyone says, "Crazy Love" from Libra Scale is the smoothest modern r&b cut in YEARS. Eff the haters.
NEYO you rule! I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Ne-Yo wasn't happy with the sales of Libra Scale. Maybe he should take a break and figure what went wrong with it and then come back. I'm sure the industry will survive. So many artists today just flood the market with releases hoping something will stick! more often that not nothing does and when it does it very fleeting.
When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I think it's weird outside of the hip hop world to be calling these unofficial releases "mixtapes", but what can you do?

Teedra Moses put out a mixtape. I guess I'll take new material however it is marketed. Ne-Yo did the vocal arrangements on Teedra Moses' classic debut.

well he did what many current artists have done when sales didnt go their way, he blasted the label, downloading, and everything under the sun and then couldnt even stand by his work, no respect for that sorry! If you make a record live with it, if it dont sell do another one, dont throw the past under the bus, looks very calculated and makes you look like an ass "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

With multiple projects in the works, the 'Black Barry Manilow' aka Ne-Yo filled us in on his forthcoming mixtape, hosted by Kevin Hart.
Ne-Yo says we can expect music that reflects the funnier side of the R&B savior. The project, dubbed 101, will also find the singer flexing his newly displayed rap skills.
"I’m doing this little mixtape thing. I had to push the album back a little bit. I got to make sure that’s all the way right. But I’m gonna put a mixtape out very soon, Ne-Yo told VIBE. "Me and Kevin Hart got together and put some stuff together---just having fun in the studio."
He continued: "I don’t care if you didn’t dig it because I’m not a rapper---to hell with you. The mixtape is me just having fun, so I might do a little rapping, a little singing, probably say some stuff that I wouldn’t normally say, but it’s a mixtape so we can do that."
His new mixtape will be released before his upcoming 5th studio LP.

I miss "old" Ne-Yo, he had some really good tunes and I could hear his MJ, Marvin, Stevie and Prince influences in the work. I hope that MJ tribute album comes out, I'll support it.

Or maybe he should just make music because he ENJOYS it and not expect accolades which is the problem with todays artist. They BASE the worth of their music on sales and awards when really that means nothing.

I wonder when some of those artists (Ne-Yo included) are gonna grow the fuck up. Sales aren't everything.
