The-Dream's fourth studio album, The Love, IV: Diary of a Madman, has been delayed due to "contract negotiations," he revealed on Twitter this week. In the meantime, the singer/producer will tide fans over with a free, 10-song "Internet album," set for release Aug. 31.

"The Internet LP is entitled 1977 and will be released under my real name Terius Nash not The-Dream. Shooting Videos for 1977 all this week," he wrote. "BTW NO ONE AT DEF JAM IS HAPPY ABOUT A FREE ALBUM LOL.... they are trying to stop it!"

The-Dream was originally set to release The Love, IV on his birthday, Sept. 20, and released two new tracks, "Body Work" and "F*ck My Brains Out," in June. The producer has also contributed to new songs by Beyonce ("1+1") and Big Sean ("Live This Life").

1977 will be The-Dream's first "free" album after releasing three full-lengths over the past four years. "We all know my album sales doesnt give me the liberty to release free music, my writing career does," he posted on Twitter on Tuesday. "My music is about the culture, and im blessed to be able to express my self without fear!"

Yeah, it does remind you of it. Although I like Dream's cover better cool I wasn't impressed at all with "The Throne" cover. I thought it looked unfinished.

Oh yeah, and more power to artists taking control of their careers like Dream, Frank Ocean, etc. BTW who the hell is running Def Jam anyway? I haven't heard about anyone replacing LA Reid since he left. Maybe I'm late.......Anybody here know?confused

not really into his stuff, pretty run of the mill beats for the most part. Im not sure why everyone is dropping to their knees about him doing a free lp, there are tons of artists that have done this long ago.

As for negotiations at the label Universal is having alot of money issues, and their division labels are suffering and rosters are getting cut and artists are not getting increases at all, so this probably stems from that, Def Jam is going down the drain at this point with no one able to steer it properly

Do you happen to know who took over Def Jam after L.A. Reid left? I don't recall reading or hearing about a replacement.
