Airplay: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio

[img:$uid]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/jbodine/Covers%20II/Airplay2.png[/img:$uid]

AIRPLAY: THE RISE OF ROCK RADIO documents the history of rock radio -- from the AM deejays to the FM pioneers who fanned the flames of the '60s, to the silencing of rock radio by the government and big-business interests, to its promise of rebirth on satellite radio. AIRPLAY shares the story of the 50-year struggle for the soul of music radio, told by the deejays and the artists they made stars. Musicians include: Crosby, Stills and Nash, Grace Slick, Little Steven Van Zandt, Bob Weir and Ray Manzarek (The Doors). In addition, legendary KLOS Dee Jays Cynthia fox and Jim Ladd with guest Raechel Donahue, rock radio pioneer, talk about the hits and the history they made together through interviews, archival footage and airchecks, some never seen or heard on television before.

There was a long time local AOR station that switched to a Tejano format a few years ago, then a Reggaeton playlist. I don't know what they're playing now, because I rarely turn on the radio.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Like Journey said I was Raised On Radio.
Having a long commute, i've learned to use it to my advantage.
Here in L.A. they still have one good Jazz station, a decent Classic Rock station and I even use AM for the one good political talk show I like (Gene Burns) and "Coast To Coast" (formerly hosted by Art Bell) for out of the mainstream topics.
