Janelle Monae is set to release an instrumental version of her entire 2010 album The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III)..

She revealed the news on Twitter and explained that more information on the release would follow. She wrote: "I am releasing an instrumental album of 'The ArchAndroid'. More details to follow. And yes, new music is/has been done..."

Monae is also set to feature on All Of Me, the forthcoming album from UK hip-hop artist Estelle, alongside fellow guest stars Rick Rossand Common.

Speaking to Vibe magazine, Monae recently paid tribute to fellow touring partner Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in her Camdenhome nine days ago. Monae said:

I was honored then, and I am now, that I had the opportunity to share the same tour and stage with Amy this year in Brazil. Each night she came out onstage, she performed effortlessly.

She continued:

At our first meeting, she was very shy, a sweet girl. Her first words to me were, 'It's so nice to meet you finally. I'm shy; you're a shy girl like me, huh?' She was so giving: She even bought me a swimming suit that she thought I'd like.

She mentioned that "new music is/has been done." I wonder if this instrumental album is just the original album with the vocals taken off or if new parts have been recorded for it? Or is this new music something completely new and unrelated to The ArchAndroid? I will be much more interested in it if it turns out to be a completely new recording of the album.

I was thinking the same, if it is going to be a staightforward vocal removal then what is the point? Last ditch ArchAndroid cash in before she releases new material?

I really hope that it is something more, or at the least a little different.

The singer has posted on Twitter to say that “new music is/has been done,” but her first priority is to release an instrumental version of her 2010 release. "I am releasing an instrumental album of The ArchAndroid. More details to follow,” she tweeted.

Don't you SMH at me, that is still ambiguous as to the content of the instrumental album. razz

At the risk of further raising the ire of getxxxx does anyone know anything about a possible album from the musicians that played on The ArchAndroid? I'm sure that I read somewhere that they were working on an album that did not involve Janelle but I haven't heard anything about it since.

This videoclip you speak of, would that be for the first single? If so does that mean that the album is finished or close to finished?
