Same here, but it's definitely not going to be a The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill that's pushed by critics till no end. The ArchAndroid might have scored high in reviews but it doesn't seem the critics were able to make this album popular enough to make it a "classic". |

I honestly feel that Gaga is nothing but an overrated Cyndi Lauper clone. Her songs are all dumb and superficial to me. But I never was big into dance pop or any of that cheesy 80's pop that Gaga seems to embody and wants to beat this generation over the head with. I just think she's an artist for the gays like a Sylvester so to speak. Her voice grates against my nerves, she can't dance worth shit plus she's attention seeking and over the top for no reason. Everything about her is what I despise in music and pop culture.
Janelle on the otherhand is refreshing for MY generation. To see someone with intelligence and vision and apply that to making music that expands and runs the musical gamut in such a way that you believe and feel whatever it is. Not only is her music high creative but so is the visual along with her performances. The only bad thing about her is that I'm ready to see her do more than just the James Brown footwork. By far, the biggest promising female talent since Jill Scott hit the scene.
Just my thoughts.
I hope that Janelle aims much higher. Whatever promise Jill Scott may have had she didn't do a great job of fulfilling it. |

You can say that again Timmy! No The ArchAndroid didn't make that big of a splash on the pop side of things last year, but from an urban and indie perspective, it was big enough. I don't think that critics had to make anything popular. It was the wack promotion that didn't allow it to stick out more. Check me out and add me on:

Pretty much, YES! I'm surprised Janelle hasn't tore up her contract there and just build up the promise her own label, Wondaland Arts Society. But she's just with Bad Boy solely because she needs the promo, hype and exposure. When it comes to the music side, that's all her and her label. Diddy has no say so, tbh. In fact, I don't think he has too much control what she does in the studio or otherwise. They are just there for the exposure and image, no matter how many times Diddy wants to slap his name on her albums as an "executive producer". Check me out and add me on:

No Puffy doesn't have control. Janelle's her own artist. She definitely only did the Bad Boy deal because Puffy promised he wouldn't stand in the way. |

I can respect that. I have seen very little of her.... Only the Prince tribute and some random stuff here and there. She seemed... Crazy. I dunno. I could not listen to songs like her version of LGC. I'm hoping ArchAndroid is not that way with the screeching and stuff. |

Yeah, she's a bit crazy live. But The ArchAndroid is DEFINITELY not like that. |

Cute girl. Slick production. Completely forgettable album.
Today's music critics are pretty dismal. Let's remember most hailed Prince's "MPLSound" album as the standout from the 3 disk Lotusflow3r set, and also hailed 20ten as a a return to Sign O' The Times greatness. Nuff said. [Edited 8/1/11 15:12pm] |

This album is incredible...she's everything is lacking in today's music(mainstream clearly)...she has a vision, a message,good songs...and she's a very versatile artist: she can go from jazz,rock,r&b,soul,classical and sounds convincing in every genre... and she's a good rapper too...and her live performances are great and energetic...
and she's also one of the few artist out there who can really dance..dance is so boring in pop music nowdays.. she's one of the few exceptions...
This is a true artist!In the actual status of mainstream music we need more artists like her...

Time will tell if people will appreciate her. If not, I hope this won't discourage her from releasing more music. I personally think the woman has promise.
I liked her even more when she cited Octavia Butler and Charles Burnett's film "Killer of Sheep" as main influence behind this album Not that she had to say it, because the album is a winner in its own merit from the first time I listened to it. |

He is better than his peers.. Drake, Wayne, etc and all them but calling him ONE of the GREATEST... thats a bit over the top and like with most artists nowadays is EASILY thrown around . His first album was great I dont know what the hell happened after that though. He has some cool productions but insinuating his the greatest since some of his material is better than his peers is to much and not saying a whole lot ... is an exaggeration but if it makes you sleep better at night.. go right ahead and preach that shit.. its a free country

I can honestly say that Kanye singlehandedly changed the dynamic of not only hip-hop in the millenium, but he reinvented the landscape of pop music. It might be an overly exaggerated or overrated response, but what has made Kanye so relevant and fresh is that he reinvents himself with each album or production. I don't know what it is, but the guy is smart and talented. I have to give it to him! [Edited 8/1/11 20:29pm] Check me out and add me on:

You must have never seen her live .... she easily shits on this generation of vocalists and being a performer without having to move around on stage.
Kanye is one of the best hip hop producers in the game. Late Registration is a classic. Adele is a phenomenal vocalist and I love her straight up approach. P!nk is an unsung hero and definitely should be the talk of the town instead of some Judas girl. Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

I don't care that much for her frenetic performances, either. It's really the music that does it for me. Just listen to the album, and if you still don't like her, then fair enough. She's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and doesn't need to be. |

When I said that she didn't do a great job of fulfilling her promise I was referring to her failure to reach a wider audience.
I like Pink too but why do you have to tear Gaga down to build Pink up? If it makes you feel any better Pink is much more popular than Lady Gaga in Australia. |
