Well, I am OLD so there are quite a few I've grown out of ~ just listened to them so much that I never put them on anymore or the interest is gone ~ The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Cream, Simon and Garfunkel (although I listen to them once in a while and they will always have a place in my heart). There are more that I am not thinking of at the moment.

Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, George Michael, and Paula Abdul. Actually, I'm crazy about them for about 3 months after each puts out an album, but it's so long in between that I lose interest. And their catalogues are so brief that it's hard for it to hold my interest in the lean years.
Yeah, what happened to George Michael? Not his career so much as him just having fun on a record. After Faith, he just became so melodramatic or depressing.

Mariah Carey, Tom Petty, and John Mellencamp (used to love Mellencamp and Petty in high school for some reason...) They sound very mediocre now, though.

Lenny Kravitz...

I did not enjoy the 'Lenny' CD. I bought it from one store, listened once, took it to a Mom and Pop, and sold it used for $3.95 worth of credit towards something else...all in the SAME day.

Is it me?

***Whitney Houston---I remember playing her debut album to death back in 85-86.I liked her other albums too,but 'The Bodyguard' was probably the last album by her that I really, really liked.I lost interest in the mid-90s,when she put out that crap song "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)".I still love her voice, but I don't really follow her career anymore.

***Wyclef---I was a HUGE Fugees fan,and I loved Wyclef's first solo album 'The Carnival'.But his follow-up CDs have been disappointing and he just doesn't interest me anymore.

Eurythmics,
Pet Shop Boys,
Madonna,

Basically most of the "gay" favs I grew up on. The only
artist that I still listen to regularly after all these
years is Prince. All the others have been traded for a
bit more mature acts who play either their own piano or
their own guitar. I don't really like real poppy music
that much anymore. But that's probably because I'm on
prozac to keep me from painting all my walls black just
yet.

I used to be a Lenny Kravitz fan when his first album came out and went to his first tour in Holland (Utrecht) and had a fabulous time. He was hitting it hard and and his mood and energy level was fucking great. One of the best concerts I've seen in my life.

I still love the first album although I never play it anymore. His second album wasn't half as strong as the first one but still enjoyable, but all the other albums were more of the same done in a worse way. I gave up after the second album and at this point I can't stand him anymore (although I have to admit that I liked his song Fly Away)...
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I Still Dig Whitney even though Her Material is to Hit&Miss over time after Her Great Debut. as for Wyclef: I say patch up with Lauyren ASAP&Vice-Versa.Wyclef was cool after that First Album but then became a Bad parity&alot of Cats like MJ&EWF turned His stuff down flat&He blew it with the Rapper Canibus&He truly needs to get it back together somehow.

as much as I love his music, I would have to say I've grown out of Prince. I just don't go apeshit over everything he releases now.

U2. Ironically the last concert I went to was their Elevation Tour, standing in the heart in front of the stage.

But you know what? After all the hype I didn't even care for "All That You Can't Leave Behind" for the very reason of it being a "roots" album ie. an old formula.

I have all of their albums.. (http://www.prince.org/msg...msg_358084) and I appreciate their growth from their early work to their daring 90s work.

But now U2 is just a U2 Tribute Band.

WOW I didn't know that at all,,lol he sho as hell doesn't rhyme along with the ppl you've mentioned and the other in you profile but I guess I can relate 2 what you're saying.

I just saw his video with Ja Rule yesterday and the brutha sound bad(and I do mean REAL BAD like shit) I have his GH LP and comparing 2 his voice now(his duet with his wify and Ja Rule) I'd swear that he's not the same person anymore.

overall, he used 2 do fine & funky falsetto pre4mances back in the day.

I dug His "Don't Be Cruel" Album&Other Singles He did.I stil think His Best overall Vocal Performance was on "Mr.Telephone Man" when He was with New Edition.Bobby was Cool back in the day for a minute but He has fallen off badly. You Know I have dug a Million&One Artists over the years.

He HAAATES their guts,,I've read his interview with Jamie-Foster Foxxx from Sister2Sister and the brutha doesn't hold back about his bad feelings against NE.

Say, What happend between them?? Why does he hates them so damn much.

Maybe they represent your youth but don't fit in with what you're listening to anymore.

Maybe you just don't give a fuck about them anymore.

Maybe they remind you of a bad time in your life.

Maybe you've just grown past them.

Who are they?

At the moment I can only think of one: the Eagles. I was never what you'd call a huge fan, because I didn't buy a bunch of there material. But I liked them as a kid. Nothing wrong with their music, but once I learned there isn't much beyond the surface I just lost interest as time went on. There's really not much going on there.

I still very much dig the intro to "One Of These Nights," I still dig "I Can't Tell You Why"...I can't think of much else to dig into.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I must say that I'm tired of the Dave Matthews Band. I used to dig them in Junior High but now they're just a bunch of overpaid sell-outs.
